PETA is definitely a trustworthy organization with trustworthy people, but to say that Mario kills tanookis is FUCKING STUPID because Mario is a cartoon character and a plumber, not an illegal poacher or a skinner.       He gets the suit from a brown leaf for GOODNESS SAKE! He doesn’t jump onto a tanooki to dawn a fur coat or skin an animal to where it. It is agreed that using actual fur is wrong, but this is a video game, NOT REAL LIFE, AND DEFINITELY ISN’T ABOUT TEARING SKIN OFF OF ANIMALS. Besides, they could’ve said it about any number of games like Monster Hunter but NOO~ they chose Mario because he is one of the gaming industries biggest icons.       The reason why this is yet another one of the bastard-minded members moronic claims is because PETA has pulled dipshit ideas from their asses before that surpass the limit of it being valid:

      *They used WoW to spread baby seal clubbing in canada. What? Why? That just gave WoW a bad rep.
      *There’s a Cooking Mama Kill’s animals game
      *Because Mick Vick is a convicted dog fighter and showed up on a madden game cover, PETA protested it. That’s in the past, get with the future
      *Battlefield 3 was protested because it featured killing virtual animals and supposed lead to animal abuse to a “young audience.” Guess what? Children are not supposed to play M rated games, so it’s not they’re fault.
      *They protested CoD: W@W because of the attack dogs wouldn’t lead to “empathy for animals” because you had to kill them. It’s a representation of war, I know some wars had attack dogs.
      *They protested a 2K Circus game featuring the Ringling Bros. because the Ringling Bros. in REAL LIFE and not the game used uncouth methods to teach the animals tricks. Well blame them, not the game!

      The point stands that video games should not be used as propaganda or protests for animal cruelty or abuse because they’re not real and most of the time have nothing to do with this shit. Case and Point: MARIO DOES NOT SKIN ANIMALS!

      There are many games that feature japanese folklore as well Mario, like Okami, One Piece, Pokemon, Zelda, Shin Megami Tensei games, Disgaea 1&2, Naruto, Digimon, Chrono Trigger, Starfox, Ghostbusters, Final Fantasy Tactics, Golden Sun, and more!

      Games that use the Tanuki include Naruto, Pocky & Rocky (snes), Legend of the Mystical Ninja (snes & n64), Okami (statues), Animal Crossing (Tom NOOK), One Piece (Tony Tony Chopper is refered to as a Tanuki), Street Fighter III (Ibuki has a tanuki named Don), AdventureQuest Worlds. So don’t be only dissing a classic like Mario because it has been done many times over.

    Why PETA against this tanooki suit, that there is also tanooki suit on SUPER MARIO BROS 3 RELEASED ON 1988 20 YEARS ago but they didn’t go against it. They also do at COOKING MAMA but the is also a cooking game that is EARLY AS COOKING MAMA RELEASED and there are always ATTACKING NINTENDO GAMES. Maybe there on SONY side and wants PETA TO BRING DOWN NINTENDO

      i agree with you, they fight for good causes and i love animals too, but i think they are over reacting and no one is gonna take them seriously unless they stop being so ridiculous, it is important they they focus on wahts really important and relevant or there will be no one left giving them credit for their cause, instead they will become a joke. i don’t see them saying anithing against games that kill people or animals, like angry birds or metal gear solid, so this cause is totaly insane… they should start use theire brains alot more
