There will be other classic suits in Super Mario 3DS, plenty of power-ups too

Yoshiaki Koizumi, the director of Super Mario 3DS has told Official Nintendo Magazine that “I can’t reveal the actual number of power-ups in the game right now, but suffice to say that we do try to include enough so that people can enjoy a variety of different kinds of play experiences in the title.” He also explained:

> …we don’t necessarily decide on what number of famous Mario suits will appear in the game and proceed from there – we try to find interesting gameplay ideas and then try to settle on what to do in different places.

Koizumi finished by outright saying “we will definitely have some more familiar suits than just the Tanooki Suit.” Brilliant news of course. Now if only we had a release date…

    I expected more accurate graphics. Screen resolution sucks :S Although the game seems great :)

      thats because of 3d when you se the actual game on the 3ds it looks much better :)

      Yeah with the 3ds Nintendo sacrificed screen resolution for the 3d so all games look like they have bad graphics with computer screenshots

      Have you seen the Super Mario trailer from the eShop? The graphics look nothing like that screenshot.

      Mm, I know what I’m talking about, because I have 3DS? :D With 3D on OoT 3D looks better, but the resolution still isn’t accurate enough, I mean, it could be more sharper. Especially, when I had to pay 290€ (400$/250£) for 3DS. EVENTHOUGH I’M STILL SATISFIED THAT I UPGRADED MY DS TO 3DS. I just thought, that resolution would be sharper. And the image is sharper without 3, but slightly – at least in OoT3D. And truth to be told, I expected DS to have 3DS level graphics, when the first DS came out back in 2004 XDD

      Hey gerr, you should download the Super Mario E3 trailer from the eShop, like I did; the graphics look way more accurate & sharper with much better resolution trust me (and that’s with the 3D on).

      I had it already downloaded, before I wrote my earlier post :D And the sharpness of Mario really bothered me. The trailer still looks great, though, and I’m probably getting that with Mario Kart. Maybe my PS3 has spoiled me with its high definition graphics :S

      That’s probably it, the HD and somewhat more better graphics on the PS3, and I’m guessing you also have an HD T.V. I don’t have an HD T.V. Nor a PS3, so it seems sharp to me.

      P.S. The Wii U is gonna spoil us all even more.

    I really hope the Hammer Suit returns. Perhaps in this game, when we defeat a Hammer Bro. they’d drop the suit.

      Same here, but since they wont let us fly with the Tanooki suit, we couldn’t fly with the cape. I don’t get why we can’t fly, though. We could fly in SM64DS, and that game was played on an even smaer screen.

      Yeah but this follows the 2D Mario games with 3D thrown in. It doesn’t have open world levels like SM64 or Galaxy. You go to the flag at the end of the stage like most 2D Mario games

      Yeah, I wish Mario could fly too. Just pray they will make another power-up that let’s you “fly” or atleast float.

    i guess this will be the ONLY game that actually keep power ups that were given in previous games. i dont know why they take them off in the first place.

    I don’t care what power-up they have, every power-up is awesome, including my all time favorite power-up, the fireflower. They added the tanooki suit, so I don’t think the feather to make Mario fly won’t be in the game =(

    They should also include the vanish cap & the metal cap, at least that’s my opinion. I know they’re not gonna put it in.

    The only Mario games I have played is Super Mario Bros., super Mario 3 (Nintendo), and Super Mario Sunshine (GameCube), but I still want to play 64 DS and Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2; I didn’t get a Wii nor PS3, nor XBox 360 because I decided to skip this generation of systems because of budget issues but I still got a DS in 2004, I was going to get a PSP but by the time I could afford one, two to six months had already went by and I saw that there was no good games at all for the PSP, so I never got one; the PS3 had the same problem but it didn’t make a difference when it came to the PS3, so long story short I’m never getting a PS4 and I always knew that XBox wasn’t gonna have anything good, so I never got one any XBox and I knew that they would make the new gen of home consoles backwards compatible which is why had skip this gen and it’s a good thing to, seeing that I can play Wii games in HD with the Wii U and already got a whole library of games I need to buy (and a cheap library at that because of how much time would have pass by the last half of 2012), so I can’t wait to get this game as soon as it comes out because they have had since 2009 to work on the stories & plots and then there’s the gameplay and motion sensors and 3D, plus for me this is going to be all new to me.

    All this game is a 3D version of New Super Mario Bros which is a game that we already have what a wasted opportunity for Nintendo’s first true 3D console, whatever happened to exploring a lush 3D environment or how about having the ability to pan the camera were you wont to. This is just a new angle on NSMB and a bad direction for Nintendo to go in, having one speed based Mario game at a time is plenty give us something that we haven’t seen in a sometime, a true 3D Mario game, Super Mario galaxies doesn’t count because its to controlled e.g. power ups are necessary rather than a bonus that makes you feel powerful.

      You can move the camera angle using the motion sensors; which is why they didn’t put a 2nd circle pad in the 3DS.

      And they do have a lot of new elements as well as old elements from the N64 & Galaxy games.

      @Kaizar Motion sensors and the type of 3D Nintendo have given us do not mix, and I still say this is a wasted opportunity. I want a true successor to SM64, and all the are giving us is NSMB with a lick of paint.

      Actually there is 3 different ways to use the motion sensors 1 of them doesn’t mix well with 3D, but the other 2 ways you can use the motion sensors works perfect without losing the 3D (like in Steel Diver; which was a crappy game).

      So just because 1 of the 3 different ways doesn’t mix, doesn’t mean you should say crap about the other 2 different ways you can use motion sensors on the 3DS.

      @Kaizar If you’re not bothered about keeping your head locked in position as you play then you could say they work, but I don’t like being restricted well playing games. (try playing steel diver on the bus or well chilling out on your bed) and speaking on the point of these new elements, we ware promised lots of new elements in Zelda 64 3D and all we got were gimmicks, some good, some pointless, and some that ware annoying, so you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up to much for these new elements.

      not to sure since nintendo hasnt given a due release date but your probably right. Thinking like nintendo does they probably would release it around christmas. The only thing is……
      DEAR GOD NOT NOVEMBER I NEED TO BUY SO MANY GAMES IN THAT MONTH! HALO, MW3, ASSASSINS CREED, BATTLEFIELD and now MARIO KART AND MARIO!

    frog suit, the boot, hammerbros suit, mega mushroom, mini mushroom, shell mario, cloud suit, rockball suit, drill suit, yoshi, any of the SM64 caps, fludd, star man, boo mario, the cape, penguin suit, propeller hat and what would be really cool is if they added new suits like bowser suit or bobomb suit, I dunno…
