Ah, what’s that? That, my friends, is the sound of GameSpot being wrong, and what a glorious sound it is.

As some you have pointed out, GameSpot published an article that basically said the 3DS would be released in Japan this quarter (which is actually before the end of September). Here’s their full quote:

> Nintendo has confirmed to Bloomberg Japan that the 3DS is coming out in the island nation this quarter and that pricing and an exact release date will be revealed on September 29. Nintendo had previously announced that the handheld would be out in America some time in 2011 after confirming at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo it would be out this fiscal year. No dates for other regions have been confirmed.

This is incorrect. A Nintendo representative had this to say:

> No – we’ve not announced anything to Bloomberg or anyone else. It’s just speculation. It might be a case of Chinese whispers, as we have confirmed to Bloomberg there will be an event on the September 29 in Japan where we intend to discuss launch timings, price and shipment details. 2010 still seems like a solid time frame for the release, but don’t expect it *that* soon.
