SEGA has released the first screenshots of Game Gear games on the 3DS. They’re after the break.

  • thommie3d

why oh why have you betrayed me nintendo no e–shop points in the Netherlands i just want to get sonic

    • Green Reuben

So you are saying you can’t get eshop points in the Netherlands?

You could just use your credit card and get uk eshop points and use their eshop.

    • jose alejos

i’m from guatemala and i can’t buy games on the eshop not even with my credit card, the system won’t allow it, that SUCKS

    • Craig

They’re in the shops… They just may not be easily visible or you might have to ask the person at the counter for them over there. Otherwise, use a VISA or Credit Card.

    • Wendel Rebel

A couple of shops where I buy them in The Netherlands
      Albert Heijn
      Primera
      A select few game stores.

Just try better at finding them

    • person

Using a credit card is the easiest way, you should be able to get them everywhere as long as you have a credit card.

    • Sebasbrawler

Every Primera sells them. From 15 to 25 euro’s. I already bought way too many games from the e-shop :P

  • Sothe

If they weren’t from sega, I would think they were fake.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Kaboom_Krusader Kaboom

    Hot diggity, that looks awesome.

  • Pac-Man1096

What’s up with the Touch Screen not being the Virtual Console Menu?

    • Mistral

It’s probably a different rendition of the VC menu. This emulator was likely developed by Sega themselves, after all.

    • Justin

It’s Sega’s version of the virtual console menu. It has a bunch of extra options. For example, the option he has selected in the picture lets you change the color of the Gamegear.

    • Craig

Each console that will feature it’s games on the VC will be created by those who made the original console the games were on. If that company no longer exists, Nintendo will work on it for them.

  • MegabusterLegends3

Whoah, that game gear skin is pretty sweet! Why didn’t they do that for Game Boy?

    • Math

Keep pressing Start or Select after you select the game.

    • Craig

You hold Start + Select and a Game Boy/Game Boy Color border will appear. I can’t remember how to change from Black+White to Green like the original display though.

    • millsy

L+R in GameBoy games and you can change the colours.

    • holonboy

To change the display to green for GameBoy games, you hold L and R, then press Y.

    • Flip

:(. Why didn’t they put it on Game Boy Advance games…

    • Tails the Foxhound

They’re probably going to add it to the games when they go live for non-ambassadors. I should probably say IF the go live though, I think Nintendo has still yet to commit to doing that. The other features of VC games are still coming though, they did commit to that.

  • http://www.nintendo3dsblog.com Izetta

I have a question when are game gear games coming to other regions.

    • Math

If he knows, he would have posted it. Don’t you think.

    • http://www.nintendo3dsblog.com Izetta

Yeah I wasn’t just asking him, actually I wasn’t even asking him. Their are alot people who more about stuff then David does, don’t you ever read people post when they old news or something like that.

    • person

I think march or april…probably late march…for EU at least. Probably the US too.

    • Craig

All of Europe will get them at the same time… The Americas, Australasia etc… have their own Nintendo companies.

  • koops3

Game gear was always the best console for games in it’s era, if only it didn’t involve 12 batteries, only for them to be dead in a few hours.

  • MarioMaster 7

Damn! Why did my 3DS have to breakat this time :(

    • cm93

      WHAT??
how did u ever let that happen????

      HELLFIRE AND DAMNATION!!

    • Craig

Don’t be so rough with it then? You must be quite young to break it… Older people 16+ are more careful with precious equipment – it’s not just a toy-like DS you know?!

    • http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/16a07c1e06c4010a42f31cc4d1a0702d.png ABEzilla116

Wow… I take very good care of my stuff. Nothing like that has ever happened to me.

    • Zack

How did it break? Maybe the warranty will cover it. Since the 3DS has a 1 year warfranty and it hasn’t been that long since it’s release, anyone’s 3DS is still covered. Especially if it has been extended via Club Nintendo.

    • Mr Bananas

      >older people
      >16

      Pick one.

    • holonboy

I take that to offense, Craig. When I was like six-ish, I never broke my GBA. I took care of all of my electronics and books, all of which are practically in the same quality as when I first bought it.

    • MarioMaster 7

@everyone I know I’m surprized too. This never happened to me. I take really good care of my systems and I’m only 13.
@Craig there’s a first time for everything, but I didn’t break it out of rage. It wasn’t even me it was my f*cking sister.
@Zack It’s sorta hard to explain but it broke because my sister tripped over the charger cord (My 3DS was on the charging cradle) then it flew out of my hands which fell down(in like a slanted direction). the impact was so hard that the top screen is hanging by 3 wires(thanks to the charging cradle >:(. And yes its under warrenty. So my sister is paying for the repairs

    • person

What moron breaks their game systems. I had a GBC when I was like really young, it looks awful today ( Screen is so scratched ) but it still works.

    • http://www.passid.ca/murphy blueeyes7

I’ve never broken a video game system, but something really weird happened with my Nintendo DS Lite, I’m not really sure why. I didn’t drop it or anything, I just stopped playing it for a few months and my mom put it up somewhere. When I finally found and picked it up again, it had stopped working out of nowhere. I eventually got it working again, but only after playing around with it for the longest time. Even so, there were a few *literal* bugs in the screen and it does not work as of this day. So that whole thing was a lesson learned: Never EVER neglect a well-working electronic device for too long.

    • MarioMaster 7

@person apearently my sister she tripped over the charging cord which ending up splitting my 3DS in two. the wires were still attached and my 3DS was still working. She said she could fix it, but ending up damaging the wires so the top screen can’t show anything. So I didn’t break it.

    • Advance

Yeah guys, who cares if you are all too perfect and prissy to have a bit of rough and tumble once in a while. Just because he breaks something-doesn’t matter what-it doesn’t mean he’s an idiot! I broke my tattooed GBASP by leaving it in my pocket when going for a walk, and falling in a puddle by accident. That’s the second time I’ve broken a console, and you are all bound to break one at least once.

    • Total911

First you lose Mario Kart 7 and now your 3DS is broken? -_-

    • Total911

I’m sorry dude… I read the comments under this and I guess it was totally not your fault. So now I feel sorry for you.

    • MarioMaster 7

@Total911 I found my MK7 a whilr back, Ijust didn’t mention it here

    • MarioMaster 7

      *while*

    • Dequax

@craig, I take offense to that as well. I’m thirteen, and have never broken a game console in my life. When I was just six, I got a GBA for my birthday, and it still works to this day. Try to say that I’m young, by your philosophy.

    • Tails the Foxhound

I take offense to that too. I fell off my bike and broke my 3DS right when OoT 3D came out. I’m 22. Accidents can happen, it’s not like he chucked it out of a window, “Jump Mario, jump!”

  • Matt Eriks

så picture 3 and 5 is full screen mode?

  • JKLLL

    Here is the link:
    http://nintendostuffgo(.)blogspot(.)com/2012/02/mario-tennis-open-box-art(.)html

    MARIO TENNIS OPEN BOX ART

Erase the ( ) on the URL. :D

  • Belinni

Yep, that looks like a Game Gear to me.

  • Kayriss

I Want the Sega Genesis Sonic games not that watered down attempt at a handheld title.

    • person

sega genesis isn’t handheld. They are mostly gonna stick to getting handhelds out. Anyway you already got the sonic collection game out on the DS, it’s all you really need.

    • Kayriss

I never said Sega Genesis was a handheld, And Idk why they would just stick to handheld games from Sega when they release NES games too.

    • Tails the Foxhound

Sega Genesis isn’t a handheld but the Sega Nomad IS! Bring on the Genesis/Nomad games!

  • Tailisu10

Though I have the game in SA DX and Sonic Gems, I think that still looks awesome.

  • Keith

    Damn those look awesome. O_O

  • http://passid.ca/paulio LazyKite

i just sold my game gear and 27 games on ebay!
i really dont need to play these old games ever again! ><

  • Zack

This is awesome. Even though I had never even heard of the Game Gear… What kinds of games did it have anyways?

    • flyinggazelle

it had many titles that were the same as genesis but its graphics were more similar to the master system. i believe some levels in games like sonic and sonic 2 are better on the game gear. what is interesting is that the master system lived long enough to get to the game gear and some games were the same.

  • Brett

    …….why?

  • Shakermaker

Looks pretty sweet. Just release Road Rash and you’ll have a guaranteed purchase from me Nintendo!

  • Alex Atkin UK

Stupid ugly Game Gear games. I think its idiotic to choose the portable versions over the superior home-console versions, just because “its a portable”.

In most cases the Master System and Game Gear versions were the same, except the Master System is closer to the 3DS screen resolution so doesn’t need crappy upscaling.

    • Flip

Just return to your PS3 website >:(

    • person

You already have the master system versions on the wii.

  • Danny

Looks like somebody has been changing the date to get more play coins. Tsk tsk.

  • http://www.passid.ca/murphy blueeyes7

Hmm…. That first screenshot is a tad bit sketchy. I would hate having to play through an entire game with that view, but luckily the other shots confirm that it just appears to be a start-up screen of some sort.

    • http://www.passid.ca/murphy blueeyes7

oh, nevermind.. That’s an optional skin, makes sense.

  • Zelgerath

    This is an excellent sign.

If Nintendo is allowing itself to depict images of other game systems on current game systems, like this “gamegear” on the 3DS, this could mean that they could depict a DS/3DS on a Wii U, and thus allow for a DS/3DS Player to make sense when the game requires you to close the DS to solve a puzzle like in Phantom Hourglass. They can show the DS being closed and opened.

  • klo

    3ds sucks, ps vita rules!

    • Pontus G

Nah, both are good systems, neither of them sucks.

    • person

Yeah, they should both have good things to offer. :/

    • Tails the Foxhound

The Vita may have good games (none that I want to play though, except Gravity Rush) but the system itself is balls. Proprietary memory cards? Some games not playing without said overpriced memory cards? Worse battery than the 3DS? No way to change the battery at all? No backwards compatibility to your old physical games OR their data even if you DID buy them digitally? Expensive as fuck 3G plan with no acceptable data package? No, fuck all those things. You can let Sony put you over a barrel and show you the fifty states if you want, I’ll be buying a PSP and getting the like 15 games I wanted for THAT system now that that train wreck is worth the price.

      PS
Don’t start the fanboy bullshit, I own a 360 too.

    • MarioMaster 7

@Tails the Foxhound +1 Thats why the vita is selling poorly, but you would think the opposite though :/

  • SleepyGuyy

Anyone else shocked at the hideous Gamegear icon they’re using… the one that looks like its just a picture of a Gamegear photoshopped into a 3DS home menu. Hopefully thats just a placeholder till they actually release it and make an icon for it.

  • SoraIsRoxas15

    nice!

  • Evan (mariozeldaawesomeness)

This is going to be epic! Can’t wait for this! Does anyone know when it’s going to come out in North America? You know what Nintendo should do? Release Virtual Boy games for Virtual Console. That would eliminate the ways you had to hold the actual VB system, lean over and use the stand, lay down with the VB on top or below you until it slips off, or duct tape the thing to your head.
