Japanese gamers can celebrate the start of the new year with Super Mario Bros. 3 on the 3DS, as the game is coming to the eShop via the Virtual Console on January 1st. There’s no word on a release in other regions, but it’ll happen sooner or later. Let’s just hope it falls on the “sooner” end of the spectrum.

It’s been revealed that Sonic Drift 2 will be coming to the Virtual Console on the 3DS in Japan on the 14th of November. You can check after the break for some screenshots from the game.

Christian Svensson and Brett Elston of Capcom have revealed that they’re working on bringing the first six Mega Man games to the Virtual Console on the 3DS, but there have been some difficulties with accomplishing this task. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long before the problems are cleared up.

Famitsu has revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is coming to the Virtual Console on the 3DS in Japan. The game is launching on the 31st of October and you can check after the break for some screenshots.
Folks in Japan have a solid set of games coming to the Virtual Console on October 17th. After receiving the confirmation that Mega Man 4 is on it’s way — and we haven’t even got the first Mega Man! — Nintendo has confirmed that both Castlevania and Donkey Kong are also on their way. That’s a nice tri-fectica, me thinks.
