Media Factory has released a Super Mario Bros. piggy bank in Japan, shown above (and after the break). This isn’t just a fancy plastic box with a slit in it though, it also makes sound effects. Whenever you drop in a coin:

…you’ll hear classic Mario sound effects, including a coin sound, a mushroom sound, a pipe sound, a game over sound, and more.

It’s available in Japan right now, and costs ¥399.

Super Mario Bros. for the NES is now available on the eShop in North America for people who are not a part of the Ambassador Program. The game sells for $4.99 and has all the features listed in the recent update. There is no word on when this will make its way to other regions.

The update for Super Mario Bros. from the Ambassador Program that adds a host of features to the game is now available in North America. There’s no word on a release for the update in Australia just yet. You can click here to read more about the update which went live in Europe a couple of days ago.

Nintendo in Japan has revealed that the next title from the Ambassador Program to be put for sale on the Virtual Console for the 3DS will be Super Mario Bros. The game will launch on the eShop in Japan on the 5th of January, and we’ll hopefully hear about a release in other regions sometime soon.
