n-Space has confirmed that RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D will be making its way to Europe sometime in the future. Unfortunately, that’s all that was revealed. We’ll have to wait on Atari for more specific information.

Not much, unfortunately.

This is what they said in their review:

Although RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D can be fun, its shortcoming prevent it from being the immersive experience the series is famous for. Fans might be excited to see the franchise return, but this portable simplification will leave most players feeling less than thrilled.

The final score was 5.5 / 10, and what stood out to me is that there is a “very small limit on the number of rides, coaster parts, scenery pieces, shops, and footpaths that can be added to the park”. I wasn’t rushing to pick up the game anyway, but it’s a shame they couldn’t make the most of what is an enjoyable franchise.

If this listing on GameStop is accurate, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D will be released on June 19th in North America. This has to be classified as a rumour for the time being, but we know the game is coming out sometime soon, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the actual date.

IGN has shared that RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D‘s story focuses on a boy who dreams of becoming a roller coaster tycoon. Unfortunately for him, his father is too busy to help him accomplish his dream, so instead an old man named Chappy is tasked with teaching the boy all there is to know about roller coasters.

There’s also a “Coaster Story” mode that is more narrative focused than other modes. In this mode, Chappy talks you through the various aspects of the game. This mode is said to be more tedious than other modes, but if you continue through it you will receive exclusive building challenges. You can choose to ignore this mode altogether and get right into the game through the “Park Sandbox” mode.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D is set to launch in North America on May 22nd. You can check after the break for new screenshots from the game.
