Renegade Kid has re-launched the website for Mutant Mudds, a 2D retro-styled platformer coming to the 3DS via the eShop in the not too distant future. They have also released two new trailers that you can check after the break.
Nintendo Power magazine has published the first review for Mutant Mudds, a 2D platformer from Renegade Kid that is coming to the 3DS via the eShop. They said the game is “extremely enjoyable” and shared that:
…if we see more neo-retro titles of this caliber, we’ll be very happy gamers indeed.
The game is also said to do “a fantastic job of recreating the feel of a good old-fashioned platformer,” and earned a “Recommended” rating from the magazine. Based on what we’ve heard in the past, it definitely seems like this is a game worth looking at.
Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid has tweeted that the latest trailer for Mutant Mudds is viewable on your 3DS via the eShop in the ‘Coming Soon’ section. This is the same trailer from yesterday, but it’s in 3D, so you might want to check that out.

Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid has confirmed that Mutant Mudds for the eShop is nearly complete, with all of the game’s forty levels having been finished. Unfortunately, it seems the game may not see a 2011 release and instead might be pushed back to the first quarter in 2012. We heard that Renegade Kid wanted to release Mutant Mudds via the eShop in December. This sounds like it’s still the intention, although there’s nothing locked down just yet. Either way, the game is looking good, so hopefully we can play it this year.
Mutant Mudds, a 2D platformer from Renegade Kid is probably coming to the eShop this December. The core mechanic in the game is the ability to travel between the foreground and the background, which adds a puzzle-element to the experience. There are new screenshots after the break, with our first look at Cloudsville, a world that features Blowers which will push your character, Max into the foreground layer.
