Mutant Mudds 4

In one of those “release date for a release date” moments, Jools Watsham has confirmed we’ll receive the release date for the new content coming to Mutant Mudds “very soon”. Based on another tweet, it sounds like this is coming within a matter of hours. There’ll also be a trailer for the game. It’ll be posted here when it’s up.

Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid has confirmed that the free DLC coming to Mutant Mudds via the eShop isn’t too far from release. Here’s what he shared via Twitter:

All 60 Mutant Mudds levels tested/completed. Looks like this game is nearly ready for eShop prime-time! Nearly = 4 to 6 weeks btw. Mudds needs to go through Nintendo testing and then get in the queue for update/release.

Let’s hope there’s no delays at Nintendo’s end.

Jools Watsham has talked about the possibility of Mutant Mudds on the 3DS receiving an update with twenty extra levels. There’s always been a sense of uncertainy associated with his statements though. Luckily, that is no longer the case. Here’s a direct quote from a recent blog post:

You might be asking yourself, “Why should I vote for Mudds on Steam?” when you may already have Mutant Mudds on your 3DS, or you’re waiting for the 20 new Grannie levels to land on the eShop (which is totally going to happen btw, as a free update). You may also be thinking to yourself, “Erp, I don’t want to play Mutant Mudds on Steam or even the PC for that matter!”

The fact that the update is free makes it all the more sweet.

A while back, Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid mentioned that the bonus content included in the PC version of Mutant Mudds could come to the 3DS version. This is still on the cards, but he’s explained that:

…the reality is that it takes time to add the levels to the 3DS version and it requires approval from Nintendo. I don’t expect Nintendo to have a problem with us adding the levels to the existing game (they allowed Wayforward with Mighty Switch Force), but I cannot say for certain that they will simply say yes, because I am not Nintendo. And besides, once we have added the new content to the 3DS version, we will have to resubmit the game to the ESRB and through Nintendo’s approval process, which just takes time.

It’s a shame the process is so complicated. The (relative) ease of submitting content for release on the iTunes App Store is something Nintendo should from.
