It’s a long while since Monster Hunter Tri G for the 3DS was released in Japan. I expect it to arrive in North America and other regions at some point, and that seems to the sentiment of this Capcom staff member, but it’s also suggested it will take a while:

Hang in there, guys. Unfortunately nothing’s been announced for the West and I can’t tell you to hold your breath for E3 either. But Monster Hunter’s not done in the West. It’s just going to take a little longer for something to hit our shores.

And back to playing the waiting game we go.

Rich George of IGN has tweeted that there is “so much Capcom goodness” coming at 8am PST from the company’s Captivate 2012 event. When asked how much will be Nintendo-related, Rich responded with:

There will be something that interests you, I think.

The obvious question is, what could it be?

A proper confirmation of Monster Hunter Tri G being localised is the possibility that springs to mind. Or maybe there’s something completely different in store for us?

Edge is reporting that Monster Hunter Tri G is coming to Europe in the third quarter of 2012. It will also apparently hit the United States at an unknown time. Unfortunately, it’s not clear if this is speculation or official information. Either way though, it’s exciting.

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Tri G has already sold 1,000,000 copies since it’s release on December 10th. There’s not much else to say about this aside from noting the obvious in how crazy these numbers are. Let’s hope it’s enough for Capcom to localise the game (and seriously, it should be).

For the time being, you can click here to watch the twenty minutes of footage from the game.

Update: Aw, bugger. I jumped the gun on this story. It’s 1,000,000 units shipped, not sold. As far as sales are concerned, it’s closer to 500,000 units so far. Still a huge amount, but not as impressive as the mistaken figure. Sorry about that.

Monster Hunter Tri G launched in Japan last Saturday and has sold extremely well so far. According to reports, the game sold 471,005 copies in its first two days. The 3DS itself also saw a tremendous boost, selling 378,114 units in the week of the game’s launch. If only the game was confirmed to be localised.
