Capcom is teasing that some “surprising information” about Monster Hunter 4 will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show. One of the recent “surprises” revealed in Famitsu was nothing but a new weapon for the game, so maybe this won’t be that exciting, but we’ll keep a look out for something newsworthy.

Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter 4 will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show in September. This is the first opportunity for anyone to play the game, so hopefully there’s plenty of people with cameras so we can see it in action.

It feels like I’ve reported this story a dozen times in the past two weeks, but Brett Elston — a community manager for Capcom — has tweeted that the company is “not kidding when we there will be Monster Hunter news soon”. He admitted that “soon”, however, simply falls in line with the recent “before the end of the year” comments. And maybe I’m a sadist, but I’m curious to see the fan’s reaction if the deadline is missed.

For the third time in the past few weeks, Capcom has talked about the fact that Monster Hunter news that relates to its life outside of Japan is still on its way. This is what Christian Svensson said:

A few weeks ago, I told MH fans on this forum that you’d hear something before the end of the year. Nothing has changed on that front. You’re also assuming that when it comes, it’ll be at some event you can see coming from a mile away. That’s not necessarily a correct assumption. While I appreciate the passion, I can’t help you if every possible industry event leads to build up and crashes in anticipation. If we somehow get to Dec 31 and you do not have more visibility, then please be mad at me. Until then, I’d request the benefit of the doubt and your continued patience.

If time travel existed, this might be a good situation to go back in time and never promise anything. I’m sure the questions would have faded, people would have (mostly) forgotten about Monster Hunter outside of Japan in the mean time, and there’d be none of this anticipation. That might have been a better position for Capcom.

Again, and again, and again, Capcom has told us to “be patient” in regards to Monster Hunter news for the 3DS outside of Japan. At this point we’re not sure what’s going to happen — whether they’ll release Monster Hunter Tri G over hear, or just jump straight to Monster Hunter 4 — but something is going to happen.

Yuri Araujo of Capcom has said that “there is an end to this madness”, but for the moment, the waiting must continue. I just hope all this waiting is worth it.
