Nintendo has revealed that the StreetPass mode in Mario Tennis Open allows you to “engage in competitive StreetPass Matches or cooperative Ring Shot challenges with computer-controlled versions of people they encounter and share their StreetPass winning streak”. The more you do this, the more “items for their Mii will be unlocked in the Item Shop”. Check after the break for further details and new screenshots from the game.

Nintendo of Australia has announced that Mario Tennis Open will launch in Australia and New Zealand on May 24th. The game will launch on May 20th in North America and on May 25th in Europe.

Nintendo has announced that Mario Tennis Open has a “Special Games” mode. This allows players to work on their moves while playing various, Mario-themed games. One such game within this mode, for example, allows you to play through the classic levels of Super Mario Bros. while using a tennis ball to take out Goombas and Koopas You’ll also be able use your Mii in the game and will have the ability to deck them out in Mario-themed gear such as a Yoshi outfit or have them use a Luigi tennis racket.
