Dengeki PlayStation in Japan has revealed that Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. This will be the first time the game will be available t0 the general public so we may able to get some footage once the show rolls around. The magazine also revealed that Tetsuya Nomura wants to complete the game as soon as possible due to the ten-year anniversary of the series in 2012. He hopes to release the game as early as possible starting next year.

A recent interview with Tetsuya Nomura of Square Enix has revealed that the story in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance won’t be drawn out. This will be done by having a level of interactivity during cut scenes, so in a way they’ll be playable. This is how Nomura explained it:

Though the story is important to fans as shown by the results of the [Famitsu] survey, it won’t be drawn-out. Not meaning that we’ve decreased the number of cutscenes, but having each one explained one by one reduces the tempo of the game, so we’re introducing a new system to make up for it.

The ‘new system’ refers to the playable parts.

A writer for Famitsu magazine spent time with a demo of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and now we have some new details about the game. From the demo we learn that the main character, either Sora or Riku, is now fighting alongside two completely new allies. This means that those who have wanted someone other than Donald and Goofy in the story will finally get their wish. The demo also revealed that there would be a new type of enemy in the game that are neither Heartless nor Nobodies. And finally, the person from Famitsu noted that the fights are more impressive than ever, with lighting effects surpassing those of previous games and movements more stylish than ever.
