Project Sora, the company behind Kid Icarus: Uprising, has been dissolved. As of June 30th, the studio was closed and, as of July 31st, the website will no longer exist. From here, Masahiro Sakurai will continue to act as the director for Smash Bros. in partnership with Namco Bandai. It’s a shame Kid Icarus was both their first and last title. At least they had an excellent track record though.

According to Masahiro Sakurai, the man behind Kid Icarus: Uprising, he doesn’t have plans to make a sequel to the game, explaining that:

…because we pushed a lot into the game in order to let people have this short yet deep experience, but the novelty of that would likely grow thin in the next game. For now, my thought is that perhaps we’ll see someone else besides me make another Kid Icarus in another 25 years.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Pit make an appearance sooner than twenty-five years, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Sakurai stick with his word. Either way, I think we can be grateful that the game won’t get the Call of Duty-treatement. That in itself is not too much of a revelation though.

For a while, members of Club Nintendo in Europe and Australia have been able to order packs of augmented reality cards for Kid Icarus: Uprising, but no such offer was in place for North America. It seems like that will all change soon as a customer service rep has revealed that Nintendo of America will offer the cards through Club Nintendo, but have yet to decide when they’ll be available. We’ll just have to wait for the announcement.

Nintendo has announced that Club Nintendo in Australia is offering packs of ten random augmented reality cards for Kid Icarus: Uprising for only 200 Stars. You can click here to check out the offer.
