Dan O’Leary of n-Space has said that the sales for Heroes of Ruin have been disappointing, sharing that:

[We're] not satisfied with the sales. The 3DS attach rate is… challenging at best and it seems that, for all its promise, Heroes of Ruin did not appeal to enough of the installed base.

O’Leary also mentioned that because of this, a sequel to the game is unlikely.

Heroes of Ruin, a Diablo-like title for the 3DS, has a game-breaking glitch. As shared by Shaun of Game Gravy, if you join an online game that’s set in a location where you have not yet completed a quest, returning to solo play will make it impossible to accept any further quests (aside from the daily and weekly challenges). For the moment, the only “solution” is to delete the save file and start again.

n-Space – the company behind Heroes of Ruin – has noted the “absence of the orange Nintendo Network logo” on the game’s packaging. This implies “the game in stores doesn’t offer the option to purchase paid DLC”, but according to the team, it’s “not necessarily the final word on the subject”:

We don’t have anything to announce at this time, but if your readers would like to see paid DLC, they can make their voices heard at the HeroesOfRuin.com message boards. Square Enix keeps a pretty close eye on that dialogue.

If you want more content for the game, become active in their community. Simple.
