People have a lot of nice things to say about Fire Emblem: Awakening, and one of the niceties on top of it being a great game, is that every two weeks until April 25th, the game will receive free content via SpotPass. This content begins today with “A Hard Miracle”, which:

….follows the story of Fire Emblem Awakening main character Chrom as he encounters a mysterious woman and sets off on a journey with her to rescue a group of kidnapped villagers.

Over the coming weeks, the game will also receive:

  • “Ghost of Blade” on March 28, a haunted tale about a ghost and the ultimate sacrifice.
  • “The Wellspring of Trust” on April 11, a map full of challenging enemies.
  • “The Radiant Hero” on April 25, which takes place on an isolated island as Chrom and his allies search for a legendary hero.

Lots to look forward to, basically.

Nintendo has confirmed that Fire Emblem: Awakening is coming to Europe on the 19th of April. It’s a bit of a wait compared to the already-happened release dates elsewhere in the world, but at least there’s a date to be excited for now. There’s also a new trailer after the break.

As reported earlier, Fire Emblem: Awakening has been slightly delayed due to a shipping error that means a lot of people might not be able to get the game until February 8th. This is Nintendo’s official response:

Nintendo makes every effort to make sure its games and systems are available at retail stores nationwide on launch day. Sometimes, because of the variables of shipping, different retailers receive their shipments on different days. Fire Emblem Awakening can be purchased right now from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS.

Just be aware that this delay isn’t nation-wide, and I’ve seen people mention that this entire thing might be blown out of proportion. If you’re keen for the game, and don’t want the digital version, take the time to visit different stores. You might be able to find it.

There’s some people who have a physical copy Fire Emblem: Awakening, and the game has become available via the eShop, but a shipping error suggests that the game might be hard to come by at retail locations until the 8th of February. Here’s what Kyle Hilliard of Gamer Informer said on the matter:

I called a few Best Buy and GameStop stores, some nearby, some far away, and most were reporting a small delay. The Best Buys I spoke to said the game probably wouldn’t be available until Wednesday February 6, and the GameStops said the game may not be available until Friday, February 8 due to shipping errors.

…and:

Amazon also has a notice on its Fire Emblem: Awakening page that reads, “Potential Shipping Delay: Delivery of Fire Emblem: Awakening pre-orders may be affected by manufacturer shipping delays. Amazon apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.”

At least it’s just a short delay though. That makes it a little less unfortunate.
