A review for Crashmo

Crashmo 31

IGN has published an overwhelmingly-positive review for Crashmo, which is available right now for the 3DS via the eShop. The game received a score of 9.5 out of 10, and it’s recommended that, “If you own a 3DS, drop everything (except the 3DS) and go download Crashmo now.”

Wild Adventures Ultimate Deer Hunt 3D

Wild Adventures: Ultimate Deer Hunt 3D is coming to the 3DS via eShop, and there’s a trailer for the game after the break. There’s no release date or price yet, but the game itself features twenty different species to hunt, along with multiple types of weapons — shotgun, bow, and rifle — to use.

Samurai Warriors Chronicles 2nd 9

At the moment, retail titles on the eShop tend to be the same price as their retail counterparts. Without the ability to re-sell them, however, there’s little incentive to purchase them until they do eventually become more affordable. Samurai Warriors: Chronicles 2nd from Tecmo Koei, luckily, is the first game to break the trend. The retail version of the game costs ¥6,090, while the eShop version costs ¥5,400. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s a start. The trick, of course, is for Nintendo to do the same with their titles.

Virtual Console in Japan

Folks in Japan have a solid set of games coming to the Virtual Console on October 17th. After receiving the confirmation that Mega Man 4 is on it’s way — and we haven’t even got the first Mega Man! — Nintendo has confirmed that both Castlevania and Donkey Kong are also on their way. That’s a nice tri-fectica, me thinks.

For those planning to download the major, first-party titles via the eShop when they become available, here’s a list of the download sizes you’ll have to take into consideration:

  • Animal Crossing: Jump Out – 8,192 blocks (1 GB)
  • Mario Tennis Open – 4,096 blocks (512 MB)
  • Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics – 4,096 blocks (512 MB)
  • Mairo Kart 7 – 8,192 blocks (1 GB)
  • Super Mario 3D Land – 4,096 blocks (512 MB)
  • Star Fox 64 3D – 5,120 blocks (640 MB)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D – 4,096 blocks (512 MB)
  • Pilotwings Resort – 1,024 blocks (128 MB)

Just keep in mind, these listings were pulled from the Japanese website, so it’s not a suggestion that Animal Crossing is coming out this year. You’ll still have to wait next year for that one.

Mega Man Small

The first three Mega Man titles are on the eShop in Japan, and the fourth one is coming on October 17th. For folks in the west though, we’ve been left hanging. Christian Svensson of Capcom, however, has said:

Patience… we’ll have things to discuss on this topic in the future.

But all we can do for now is hope that “the future” is not too distant.

Cave Story Update

After discovering a bug within one of the game’s modes, Nicalis has updated the eShop version of Cave Story. For those who have picked it up already, you might want to get around to downloading it.
