If you live in Japan, want a 3DS XL, and haven’t purchased on yet, you’re in luck. The above, Pikachu-themed 3DS XL is available for preorder at a Pokémon Center between August 25th and September 14th. You will then be able to pick it up on the 15th of September. There’s more images after the break.

If you purchase the 3DS XL in Europe, there’s no charging cradle. You have to charge the system with only the AC adapter, and there’s nothing to rest it in. But for those desperate for a cradle, an official cradle will be released for the system on the 24th of August. It will cost £19.99, however, which doesn’t seem like a super attractive price. Even so, you can view the product listing on Amazon for more details.

The system could be on the shelves, but not available for purchase, although that sounds a little strange to me. If you’re eager to get your hands on the 3DS XL, you might like to call your local Toys R’ Us.

These locations have a 3DS XL just sitting there, waiting to be lovingly caressed by your callused fingers. (And I’ll stop there, before this gets weird.)

After two days of being available, the 3DS XL has sold 193,441 units in Japan. In addition to that, New Super Mario Bros. 2 sold 430,185 units within the same time period, and that only accounts for retail figures. There’s still the matter of digital sales figures, but we’re not sure when (or if) we’ll find out those specifics.
