Super Mario 3D Land sells 343,492 copies in its first week in Japan, also spurs hardware sales

Super Mario 3D Land has sold 343,492 copies during its first week in Japan. This is triple the total software sales for the 3DS in October. The game also seems to have had an effect on hardware sales as there were 145,271 3DS handhelds sold in the same week.

      Nintendo Power gave it a 9/10.

      They’ve given 10/10 scarcely. The only games to get that score (that I remember) were Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

      I doubt the GBA games will be distributed while the major retail titles are being released.
      If they keep their promise of during this year, those titles will probably be released as a late holiday gift.

      I don’t think a Pokemon game would be one of the ambassador games. Remember the supposed lack of multiplayer? Why ask for a game you can never legitimately finish?

      On the other hand, I’ve always wanted to try a Nuzlocke challenge or whatever it’s called.

      Don’t expect a Pokémon game. Ruby/Sapphire and FireRed/LeafGreen are completely impossible, because both come in pairs. Emerald is slightly less impossible, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the best GBA games of all. I won’t care about VC Pokémon if there isn’t an option to send the creatures to gens IV and V.

      Amazing Mirror, Mario 3, Minish Cap, Golden Sun, Fire Emblem and others are still pretty likely.

      Judging by sales, the price won’t drop for quite a while. Most of their top-selling games take FOREVER to reach a price drop. I don’t think the Pokemon games on the DS have dropped in price since they’ve been released… Good luck waiting until 2020 (at least).

      actually, look at new super mario bros ds. It’s still about $30 preowned when at launch it was $40. That’s why I don’t usually mind buying nintendo games new because the prices remain high anyways.

      True, nintendo games tend to be full price no matter when you buy them which is damn annoying. All console games always get cheaper after a few months.
      Any way i will still buy this game once i finish skyrim since this is one of the best games for the 3DS.

      The only Mario games people like me have ever played was Super Mario Bros. on NES, Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES & Super Mario Sunshine on Gamecube.

      And I am going to get Super Mario 3D Land.

    This is great news. We need more software to sell in order to make up for the 3DS loss due to price cut and we need more units sold in order to encourage Nintendo to keep supporting it and get 3rd parties who are not yet on board or who are not bringing their triple A titles to bring it.

      I know, right? Monster Hunter is one of the most popular and best-selling series in Japan. And so is Zone of Enders series, which is ALSO coming to the 3DS. Those are going to make Japanese 3DS sales soar through the roof–and if they’re smart, US/UK/AUS sales as well!

    Well my patient waiting is over. After buying 3 games to wait for this (star fox 64 3D, Pokemon Rumble Blast, and Harvest Moon The tale of two towns.) not to mention the Eshop titles. (Super Mario land 2, Mega Man, Mario Picross, Kirby, and Game and watch gallary.) It’s finally coming out. =)

      Remember its on a smaller scale. If they gave it a 4/5, that would be like saying it was 8/10 or somewhere around that. Shinking the scale makes it easier to say a game is perfect without nit-picking at details. Anyway, it recieved close to perfect (like 38/40 and 95%) reviews elsewhere, so it doesn’t matter.

      It was sold in Dubai more than 9 days before release. Around 10-15 days earlier (approximately) and that is really something. It was at Wild Peeta, outside the open space in Dubai World Trade Center from 7pm to 9pm, that’s how he got a copy.

      P.S. Don’t spoil the game entirely if you want to play it. He covers the whole game, more or less.
