Street Fighter 3DS features a spectator mode (and there’s a new trailer)

I was very impressed with *Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition*. It’s definitely a day one purchase, and the only real star in the Japanese launch line-up. And it seems to be getting better and better. At today’s stage show the game was revealed to feature thirty-five playable characters along with a spectator mode via a “Channel Live” feature that allows up to six people to watch other gamer’s duking it out.

I wasn’t there for presentation (trying to catch up on work at the hotel room) but apparently an online mode is practically confirmed and it could quite possibly be worldwide. The trophy system was also brought up, which allows you to collect in-game figurines by passing people in the street who also have the game saved on their system. You can get a golden Chun-Li figurine when you get the game by using the code: zAAkcHVbHk.

      It’s because of the influx of young readers to the site. Some people under 12 aren’t mature enough to resist writing that. I’ve had multiple opportunities to write “first” but if I don’t have anything important to say I pass. This guy didn’t.

      Because if you search “Nintendo 3DS” this is the first site. Plus people from pretty much every country in the world that isn’t Japan follow this site for news. Even some Japanese follow it, see some of the comments. ;D

    Any word on the 4 new characters added into SSF4 the arcade version?

      Unfortunately, Yoshinori Ono (the director of all versions of SSF4) confirmed on his Twitter (@Yoshi_OnoChin) that Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma aren’t in Arcade edition.
      Which makes sense, since Arcade Edition and 3D Edition were developed alongside each other, so they would have to delay 3D Edition to include the extra four.
      Now, that’s not to discount the chances of DLC happening eventually, but that, of course, depends on if the 3DS has the capacity for DLC patches and the like, which I would hope Nintendo’d learned from from the Wii.

    Yeah the online was definitely confirmed. I can see myself playing the online a lot too, more so than the console version.

    I will be getting this game day one for sure, it really looks like they put a lot into it.

    Still hoping Nintendo will have another one of their games available for the North America launch.

      I think that was the last portion of the trailer, but we don’t understand Japanese now do we. ;D

    Btw, In E3 2010 there was demonstration of Metroid Other M on 3DS but… It’s not listed here. And there haven’t been any talk about it ever since.

    So I guess it’s not coming.

    And what about Super Mario 64 ? I know it was released on the original DS back in the day, but it would be awesome if it came for the 3DS aswell.

      Well, it already came out for the DS like you said, and 3DS will be able to play DS games; another remake would be kinda pointless. :/

    I’m not sure about this game. Maybe eventually, but I would rather save my money toward other games like Kid Icarus, Tales, Metal Gear Solid, and Kingdom Hearts.

      metal gear .. ssf 4 and RE revelations….are the better games in my opinion…

      Agree… I don’t like SFIV, this game isn’t for me… Also i’m pretty bad in the console version… So i’m going to save my money for games like: Kid Icarus, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, RE (If they fix the controls problem David talked about) Maybe DoA, … and this would sound stupid… Sims 3 (actually, this one could be my first game on the 3Ds).

      Out of all the japanese launch games if thats the same here then I think the only game I would pick up is this, While I might get Nintendogs I probbly will hold that off until after my Dog passes because I think Nintendogs is preety much a game for people with no dogs (Or now cats.)

    Watch it again. Someone starts download play with a guy without SSFIV3D. Then another guy, also without the game, and the guy with the game leaves. And then the new guy keeps playing with the guy who was doing download play. Neither of them have the game cart.

    im still unsure of whether the download play allows you to keep the downloaded trial version of the game forever, or if it goes away once you turn off your 3ds.

    This doesn’t have to do with street fighter, but if i ever got the 3DS game “face shooting”, I would DEFINETLY would want to shoot justin bieber in the face. :D
