Rumor: A game based on FLCL coming to 3DS?

FLCL (pronounced “Fooly Cooly” in English) is an anime I have absolutely no familiarity with, but there’s a rumour that Nacmo Bandai may be working on a game based on the franchise. We do know they’re working on a large amount of titles, so maybe this is one of them? Wait and see, of course. That’s all we can do.

      The show is an 6 episode OVA(Straight to Video Release) and it’s core premise is making fun of every Anime that came before it. It’s full of jokes on Anime cliches and was some of the best 150 minutes I spent of my life :)

      Tried to watch the first episode from youtube, stopped at the part where the girl started talking ’bout overflowing or something. Overflowing where, in her pants? Maybe it’s just my dirty mind I don’t know, she _was_ coming onto the kid though. Maybe I’ve just had enough of these Japanese looks-dirty-but-it’s-not cartoons, lol I can’t think of another way to describe them at the moment.

      No there were only 6. For proof you can look it up on any Anime database site like ANN, Myanimelist, or AnimeDB. All those sites list the details of the original Japanese release and it only has 6 episodes. The show is only available on Streaming and DVD. Why would they block episodes for a DVD/Streaming only release? TV is one thing(plenty of Pokemon episodes have been dumped) but there has never been a case where an anime episode(in the Original Japanese Dub) was blocked Online or on DVD.

      Your close-mindedness of this whole situation will merely keep you in denial. Anime is a medium in which nothing can be expressed. No emotion, no feeling, no lesson. Nothing. Thus, rendering it useless. Even if one were to try to use it as a means of expression it’d just come off as mocking. It’d be akin to reenacting the Holocaust with teddy bears. (An idea that while exceptionally hilarious, is rather distasteful.) I recently returned home to America after spending 13 years on a soul-searching trip across the world. My final destination was Tokyo Japan, where not only did I discover the majority of Anime we see outside of Japan is EXTREMELY inaccurate of life there, but that Anime and Manga is a destructive force that is tearing Japan, and soon America, apart. We all know that solo-activities such as gaming, watching anime, etc… Result disastrously in the social activity of an individual, causing them to go out less, speak less, and help the world less. In Japan however, Anime has assisted in the creation of a new breed of human, a breed of human so uninterested and afraid of social interaction that they have convinced themselves they don’t even need any friends, instead being perfectly content with sitting in thier homes, playing with plastic figurines, watching the mindless dribble that has turned them into the lifeless creatures that they are. They will never help or assist in society or it’s construction, instead leeching off it for as long as they can until they die a pointless, loveless, lonely life.

      I love when everyone gets all uppity about someone having a different opinion. a long time ago I had a brilliant idea for when I should care about something, “will anything change for me when I go to bed and when I wake up?” and 95% of the time nothing changed so I didn’t have to care about it. I did that here and guess what? one person on the internet not liking anime changed nothing for me at all. (though to be completely honest I don’t watch much anime either though my reasoning is the animation style of most shows has stagnated into a lazy computer-generated style that is so uniform across many animes that you could splice completely different animes together and unless you knew the specific animes you’d probably be none the wiser. besides manga is hella better)

      I can’t begin to imagine the leaps in logic you must experience to reach the conclusion you did. Saying that anime doesn’t express any emotion, feeling, or lessons is like saying video games, or hell even books don’t express such things either. (the latter of which has historically shown how important and impactful it can be)

      To say that anime is the direct cause of kids in Japan being anti-social, and causing other such problems only shows how close minded you are as there are a number of other things that need to be considered, and a mere trip there doesn’t mean that you’re suddenly an expert.

      If you choose to dislike anime that’s completely fine, and I congratulate you on finding a reason for abandoning something that you found destructive. However don’t start demonizing something others like just because you lost interest in it.

    I freaking loved this anime- and I don’t really like anime. One of my favorite cartoons! It’s definitely worth watching- you can watch it on Netflix instant streaming.

      @Hudgins_8041, I totally agree, Avatar is a real quality series, I LOVE IT! But you talk of Avatar and Korra as two different things. You may have meant The Legend of Korra and The Legend of Aang (or “The Last Airbender) which both go under the category Avatar :)

    I wasn’t too fond of the randomness of FLCL, but it’s nice to see a funnier anime every now and then. The soundtrack is awesome though, and I hope the game will reflect that. :)

    I find this rather unlikely. To my understanding FLCL wasn’t well received in Japan, and making an anime based video game made primarily for a foreign market seems a little too unlikely.

    Though I’d be interested to see how it’d turn out.

    I’m not a huge anime fan. I watch it but it’s not my favorite thing to watch…but one thing I love to watch is Fooly Cooly and I am immensely glad that this might be coming true. Thanx Namco Bandai :’)

    Actually as seen in the endings of each episode it is pronounced Furi Kuri in English, in maybe one episode it’s called Fooly Cooly, but every episode features the Furi Kuri pronunciation, so it’s a little more trustworthy, of and if this actually happens the 3DS will officially be the greatest system ever…

    This show was way too weird for me to even finish watching. I don’t understand why people thinks it’s so good. I saw maybe 3 or 4 of them and never the ending episodes but they weren’t anything special pretty boring to me. I would give the game a try though if the rumour turns out to be true Just to see what they come up with

      I find it a tad bit unnerving to say that ALL anime story lines are stupid because their are so many of them however some anime story lines are stupid, The movement of characters are dependent on the animators style if the movement is wierd in one anime it could be an entirely different story for another in other words some anime are outright psychotic while others are calm and collected, and as far as the fan base goes yeah you got me there some what but judging something on it’s fanbase is a bad mistake some people are obbsesed with things some people are just casual viewers of it. Basicly it’s like every other fanbase ever however thats my opinion, best of luck to you may you live a full and happy life.

    On topic: I kinda doubt it. FLCL is pretty old, why would they do it now? Unless they’re combining FLCL, Gunbuster, Diebuster, and Gurren Lagann into the semi-universe they’re meant to be and making that into a game. I’d buy that in a hummingbird’s heartbeat.

    Slightly off topic: FLCL is pretty much the greatest OVA ever, but it’s far from the best anime ever, that’s pronounced Cowboy Bebop. It’s not even the best animation Gainax has ever done. I won’t say it’s overhyped, but people still need to chill out on it. Also, it’s not as random as people say it is, we’re not talking Excell Saga or Azumanga Daioh! here. The whole series is a metaphor for puberty, watch it again with that in mind and pretty much everything makes sense.

      Gainax has also done werider shit as well. Like Panty and Stocking with Garbelt anyone? You could say FLCL and Gurren Lagann are kinda entry level into Gainax. It’s how I started with them about 2 or so years ago.

      On topic, It’d be awesome to see this game in English. The Gainax dubs tend to be pretty good. If this game is real, I wonder if it’ll be like a 2D side-scroller or a 3D game. I could imagine them as both…

    It’s actually not really random at all. Everything is done on purpose. It has a lot of hidden really meaningful metafors strewn throughout the series. (Which is only 6 episodes btw.) It’s really a great anime. You definitely will not get in on the first watch through.

    There is a lot of craziness, but behind the insanity is a compelling story. To be honest all the crazy shit is caused by Haruko (Tha pink haired one). The one the story is actually about is Naota (The kid who’s in the middle). And don’t worry, his eyebrows aren’t actually like that.

    It’s like a reverse coming of age story: All the authority figures in Naota’s life (His father, his Grandfather, his teacher at school, practically all of the adults he knows really) act like children – so he feels compelled to behave like an adult. The story is basically about Naota learning that being mature isn’t acting like an adult: It’s acting your age.
