Reggie Fils-Aime has shed some light on Nintendo’s plans for cross-platform play between the 3DS and the Wii U. He notes that “the same developer who created Smash Bros. is envisioning a Smash Bros. experience that will be cross platform between Wii U and 3DS,” as reported previously. But he followed up by saying the “experience will likely be very different than what the competitors are doing.”

    Woot!! Go nintendo!

    1. Dan

      Yeah

    2. Sonny

      2 gay

    3. Sonny

G’damn brother posting stuff on here…

  2. Nick

I think that you should have the option 2 play Smash Bros. on Wiiu with the 3DS as a controler…. that’d be cool!

    1. me

i hope they also add a feature where you have a
3d perpective of your character on the controller screen

  3. Kyle_N

This is actually the first thing I thought of when I saw the controller, with the TV as the top screen (widescreen) and the controller screen as the bottom screen (touchscreen with all the buttons)

  4. Marsalis

Maybe smash players with wii U will duke it out with players on 3DS. Maybe there will be a social network system going for snapshots, recordings, and stages. Theres no telling what they will do. One things for sure, I cannot wait for Wii U to come out so I can buy these games.

  5. BlueMario

    Transferring*

    1. Tabuu

Buddy, it’s called “Transfarring”. It’s something Kojima is doing for the Peace Walker HD. You can transfer your saves from the PS3 to the PSP for Peace Walker and play it on the go.

    2. jamie

nope its transfarring. go watch the konami press conference

  6. CerealKiller528

Different you say? What if we could use the 3DS as a controller and play on the TV instead of a small handheld screen.

  7. George Tirebiter

Due to the fact there’s interactivity involved, they’re already ahead of the curve there. Sony is only looking into playing console games on their handhelds, and though Apple could have that kind of device interactivity the games lack the depth warranting an on-TV experiencec and are at a disadvantage for lacking tactile controls not involving the touch screen. As for Microsoft, Windows Phone 7 is clearly not the best suited for that kind of interactivity.

  8. Blayke LaRue

You misspelled transferring. lol, FIX IT.

    1. keithmaxx

But the message gets transfarrthered that way.

    2. Jason

Nope, it’s transfarring. It’s Kojima’s new system, check it out.

  9. DarthLOL

HOLY CRAP! Has anyone even heard of: Batman the Brave and the Bold the Videogame

Skip to 2:00 if you are lazy…

Sorry best trailer I could find LOL

    1. HunteronX

      That video was hilarious! Thanks.

It actually shows what 3DS and WiiU cross platform play might be like.

  10. drwill439

This would work wonders for people who do local tournaments. I used to love playing the 1st two Bleach DS games with as many people as possible. This is how people become the best, by avoiding embarassment in front of everyone.

  11. sammaster9

I hope that we can play SSB3D with SSBwiiu with a full multiplayer experience, not just some dumbed down version that both systems can do

  12. ZeroX

It be more cooler if it had system transfer and some like “Saved Data Transfer”. It was transfer your saved data from your Wii games (even games with Nintendo Wifi connection, because those can’t be tranfered to the SD card.)

  13. Jbluna

oh, little typo there david “transfarring” lol

    1. transfarring is the correct name for the feature

  14. transfarring is the correct name

  15. KeigoNiwa

Anyone else want alternate outfits in SSB instead of just color changes

    NINTENDO FOLLOW IN CAPCOM’S FOOTSTEPS
Give us both different colors AND different outfits =D

    1. KeigoNiwa

just don’t charge us for each set of new outfits x.x

      damn you capcom XD

  16. to be honest im still not sure the why the very first ds didnt do anything with the wii. finally after 5+ years they do something like this. the 3ds better at least be a controller for the wii, i mean, wii u. i dont know why the ds wasnt and had very little connection fun with the wii.

  17. JMAN

hopefully more things you can do with the 3ds with the wii u than what the wii and ds did..

  18. manhill

    errrr…. transfarting.

  19. techni

Should be identical to vita/ps3, just like wiiu…

  20. nintendo pwns

  21. kawa

Four Swords Adventures-like game play, portable Chao Garden like in Sonic Adventure 2, etc. Just some other thoughts and things to be excited about.

  22. 3ncrypt

… OH SNAP! USING THE 3DS AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE WII U TABLET :O

  23. Sean

It would be cool if someone playing smash bros online on the wii u could play smash bros online with someone playing it on the 3DS

Not sure how possible that would be though….

  24. [...] and the Wii U to get access to certain experiences. Connectivity between the 3DS and the Wii U is still on its way. But don’t expect to see the 3DS as a different way to control your games. [...]
