Actually I had that same reason typed down (sort of) but I deleted it to avoid an argument with him. (I was also going to say that when people post something controversial and unecessary like that they’re usually trying to start something.)

Well truthfully you’re sort of right. I couldn’t think up a good enough way to phrase it(I guess I should’ve just tried making a more simple comment instead of trying to mention all the groups of people who would be bothered by that type of comment.) so I just left that part out. What do you mean calm down? My tone seemed pretty calm to me but I suppose this is the internet so you can never really tell. Regardless if you were going after the Sony and Microsoft fanboys you were definitely trying to start something. You can’t use Microsoft and Sony fanboys as an excuse(implying they’re the ones that started it) either since there were none in this news story. Therefore if controversy had arisen in response to your comment the agitator would have been you not the alleged Sony and Microsoft fanboys. no i really meant it like, why the freak isnt there any metroid game at all right now and like every single other game has new ones coming out, or already out. theres new kirby, mario, zelda, animal crossing, like everything but metroid.

@David Hoyle they are working on a new Metroid game, but their still working on the new concepts; like using the Motion Sensosrs and stuff, plus they also have to come up with a script and that takes longer time now of days because it has to be equal to the quality of the 3DS system itself [i.e. the 3D & motion sensors & DLC (which was announced in March 2nd or earlier at GDC 2011 by Reggie) & maybe make use of the microphone for gameplay as well].

So they are simply still working on writing the Stories & Plots and coming up with ideas for additional kinds of gameplay to do with the new features on the 3DS.

And they got to make sure the Storylines succeed everything else they have ever done before because of the ability to display 3D with the screen & it having better graphics then all their previous systems (this automatically creates demand for better stories in every way for every reason).

So suspect a 2012 or 2013 release for Metroid 3DS; most likely 2013.

which is convenient for Nintendo so they can use 100% of their developers to finish Mario/Animal Crossing/Luigi/Star Fox and so fort by before Chritmas for the 3DS (Luigi & Paper Mario which they probably just stop developing them until they finish the others OR spend lesser time developing them, so they can spend more time to finish the other first party games).

@Kaizar : well there hasnt been a metroid hand held game in 5 years. and as far as the story line and bosses and items go, that shouldnt take long at all. if i can make my own maps, bosses, items, and even little clip scenes on paper and in a week or two, and only during class becuz of boredom, im sure a company can do better when they get paid for it. the only thing that can make it take time is just programming it to the hard drive or whatever its called. i know that takes time but its been over 5 years for a handheld metroid.

@David Hoyle yeah, but they are currently working on a bunch of other games right; so like Project Sora they can’t even get into think about the game, whether it’s Metroid(Nintendo) or Super Smash Brothers(Project Sora).

Plus maybe the people at Nintendo didn’t even think of anything Metroid yet; to get around to notice that they should make another handheld Metroid yet.

P.S. So far I have only played the demo that came with the original DS, but if they make one for the 3DS which I’m sure they will, then I would definitely buy it even though I would probably have to wait for as long as Q4 2013 (like the people who are into Super Smash Bros. and are waiting for the new one in 2013), because these developers are clearly currently to busy working on other games to even be thinking about Metroid & Super Smash Bros.

Especially Nintendo who is also making 3D Classics of NES games & GameGear games & TurboWhatever games; plus they’re also working making our 3DS capable of recording 3D videos and making new StreetPass games and new AR games and DLC (which was announced in March 2nd or earlier in GDC 2011 by Reggie) & who knows what else they might be working on besides Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Paper Mario and Wii U games.

So in essence they really got 100% of their resources full right now (like the company that’s making Kid Icarus which is using 100% of all of its company’s resources just to make that one game).

as far as the 3d recording goes, that shouldnt be hard at all. there are 2 cameras, low quality, and 2 screens in 1 on a 3ds top screen. unless someone explains that to me i cant imagine how anything 3d can affect time in any way.

and above everything else, nintendo hasnt had a new console in years. and they seem to be more focused on the wii u instead of the 3ds, which isnt even selling good at all. and its not just metroid, everyone knows the 3ds lacks modern day content, even modern day content 10 years ago. im sure if i look hard enough theres probably a microwave that even sends messages, for example.

of course, if the 3ds was $169.99 when i bought it in march, i probably wouldnt care much about the lacking. but i paid $250 for this. and i cant even transfer back the dsiware games i put on it, i couldnt even transfer the save data, but i could transfer everything else. what was the point of that?

or at least pikmin. metroid and pikmin are my 2 favorite games i can think of that i want on a 3ds. but they dont have it. pikmin would have been perfect. i dont even know who they are trying to impress. i literally was a nintendo fan my whole life before the 3ds, but im never going to be a nintendo fan again. well not unless i work there making metroid games. i can make endless metroid games. i really want a paper metroid game though, that would be awesome. a metroid game that you can relax a bit.

But I do see what you talking about; but I’m still hopeful that they will make a new Metroid handheld game for the 3DS, and if they do, I will buy it for every reason.

And just the concept to me makes want this to happen so badly, even though I have never played a Metroid game before.

But as I said they still haven’t even finish Luigi’s Mansion 2 & Paper Mario yet.

Maybe someone could start a online Petition to get a new Metroid for the 3DS (and to also make a 3DS Virtual Console Metroid or a 3D classic of an old Metroid game, instead of Virtual Console to add to the development of Metroid 3DS by online Petition).

I guess I just got to much HOPE for things like Mega Man Legends 3 coming back and a new Metroid for the 3DS.

Plus I’m also into such games as Kid Icarus & Rodea the Sky Soldier & Final Fantasy & Golden Sun (like the upcoming 4th GoldenSun coming to the 3DS) & Cave Story 3D & Mario Kart & Kingdom Hearts & etc.

So for me it was easy to get a 3DS.

But I do hope they bring Metroid & Mega Man to the 3DS; even though right now it looks hopeless.

Plus I think Nintendo might be making Pikmin an exclusive game for their Home Consoles ONLY.

But they did say they will later on make 3D Wii U; so you should look forward to Pikmin 4 on the Wii U, which should be in 3D; plus by then (2014 or 2015) 3D HD T.V.’s should come in 24 inch or 37 inch and cost like $200, because by June 2012 3D HD T.V.’s should cost $600 or $800. And by the time they make Pikmin 4 it would probably be 2014 or 2015; so Nintendo should be making first party Wii U games in 3D by then.

David, just out of curiosity, are you paid/make money to do all this work or do you do it out of passion? If so, what was it about the 3DS that you found so compelling? At any rate I appreciate this!
I wasn’t planing on getting the 3DS but since the price drop I’ve been highly considering it. Now that the Vita (which I’m set on getting) is delayed I’m even closer to getting the 3DS. I’m glad it’s getting more publicity. I think 3D is “neat” but when I saw it in the store even though I thought it was okay I would look for more from a system I’m curious as to everyone’s input.

2. this site (however) started out of passion.

3. regarding the 3d effect on the 3ds, it is a LOT better when it’s sitting with you at home, and you get a chance to really find the sweet spot.

I guarantee you will enjoy the 3ds. i have had many sleepless nights using the many features of the 3ds, and i believe you will too.

so basically… get it! ;)

@Ed: I like my 3DS mainly because of Nintendo and I wanted one mainly for titles like Dead or Alive Dimensions,(the only game I currently have for it) Paper Mario, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and Animal Crossing. If you can afford both however(seems like you’re getting Vita either way) I say get both they’re both bound to have alot of good exclusives.(Exclusives are the main hook of the 3DS other than 3D.)

Actually with PilotWings Resort you have to be at just the right angle and make sure that it’s completely in the center of your view and if the very bottom of the screen has a double image effect; just move the 3DS upwards a little until it no longer is there.

Plus your eyes probably also has to get use to it to adopt; but all I had to do was hold in just the exact right spot (plus I have never had any problems with 3D; which might be why I never needed to adopt to anything for the correct experience).

Hello All! Thanks for the response!
I just wanted to clarify somethings. The game I played was actually Streetfighter. Which I didn’t feel was a game that really benifited too much from 3D but I didn’t really play it that much. I didn’t mean to disparage the 3D aspects of the 3DS I do think they are cool and might add to the effect of a game like Zelda. My point though was that I thought there were more compelling reasons to buy a 3DS than simply the 3D aspect.

To me, the 3D is on part with graphics quality. It’s great to have amazing graphics. Unfortunately people are trying to view it through the lens of it being a gameplay modifier. I doubt that very much. I think it’s just a unique way to improve the graphics. Art style trumps sheer graphics power everytime. That’s why I can still play the GBA version of Super Mario 3. Nothing has impressed me graphically anyways since Crysis 1.

Now on to the more pressing matter. I do think I will be getting the 3DS sooner or later. I recently (in the past year or so) picked up a DS Light. I am being offered $30 for it from Gamestop is that worth the trade off? The only thing I think it can do that the 3DS can’t is accept gba cartridges. I still have the original GBA so that’s okay (as long as I have a good light source :P). But I dunno, I feel 30 is not quite worth it.

MORE pressing though is if I should get it for 250 and get the ambassador games. Or if I should wait and get it for 170. I’m more interested in the GBA games to be honest. But is that value of these games enough to offset the $80? I mean how much do games go for on the eshop?

@ Ed, well thats the thing. they don’t actually sell GBA games in the eshop. so it’s actually an exclusive to 3DS ambassadors (for now at least). You can, however, go to Walmart a few days before the official price drop to get it for $170 AND get the 20 free games. Just be sure to log in to the eshop before the official price drop, or your antics will be of no prevail (lol). And about the DS trade in… remember this, Gamestop will ALWAYS swindle you out of your money. Try trading it in to a local game store, (for example, I have a Games n Go next to me) they tend to give you a reasonable price. Honestly though…. if i were you, I’d keep it. those screens are lit really well, so you could play your Gameboy games whenever you want! Though you could just get an AGS-101 model Gameboy SP. Those are HIGHLY recommended for Gameboy games. It’s back-lit so you don’t get the colour wash out like in older SP models, and it’s easy to fold up and but in a bag or in your pocket! Hope this helped! :)

I think they are going to make all the GBA games into 3D classics; because they were already originally program to be displayed in 3D with the GameBoy Advance SP (which also had an 3D screen to display 3D without the glasses).

Well at least the graphics where already made to be display in 3D; even if they never put the extra programing for the 3D functionality.

So it shouldn’t take much to make the GameBoy Advance games into 3D classics (plus isn’t 3D classics an upgraded version to be downloaded for free after we have already downloaded the regular version of the game as one of our 10 free GBA games; so technically it’s like up to 40 free games to download, according to Nintendo).

Battlefield 3ds was a mistake written on the EA portugal blog they even said so themselves. Why would you want it anyone it would be super dumbed down? @Ryan cod,modern warfare, well all those games aren’t new things they’ve all been done before…and no matter what you say the wii still beat the 360 by 30-40 sum million…. also the xbox always had over heating problems and would break down (i know this cuz i have the new one and before that I had about 3-4 of the old models…) main reason I got it was because online on the wii was garbage and i didnt want to miss out on games like blazblue,marvel vs capcom 3,resident evil 5, and Bayonetta and japanese women are real (you dont see allot of boob jobs and shit like that or pounds of make up on thier faces…) my girlfriend is japanese so you dont know youre talking about…

#3: Yeah, but Japan has Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, and soon, the PS Vita and Wii U…and before that, they had NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, PSP, and a load of arcade games that made ours look like crap. Compare.

#4: I’m sorry you missed the awesomeness that is Gundam. Those were some badass series. Though, I’m not going to lie–I was the green ranger growing up.

#5: Japan has real women…trust me…

Though, p0rn altogether is rather tasteless, so just go to Japan where Japanese girls dig American guys!
