Nyko has unveiled the Nyko Power Grip Pro. It’s essentially a Circle Pad Pro and battery-life extender in a sleek, ergonomic shell that protects your 3DS from dings and scratches. It will be available in October and you can check after the break for the first photos of the accessory.

Update: As Izel has pointed out in the comments, the Power Grip Pro will retail for $29.99.

    Nice Looking

    • TOBI

wayy much better than the ones that Nintendo made XD mm

    • Mountain Man

Reaching the ABXY buttons is going to be a real pain with that thing in place.

    • kamkid

@Mountain Man have you played with the circlepad pro? its not that hard

    • http://www.brunorafaga.com Bruno Ráfaga

@Mountain Man, this is kind slimmer than the original Circle Pad Pro, its actually look better in this than the original.

    • SleepyGuyy

MountainMan means the screen piece (that wasn’t there on Nintendo’s) seems like it’ll get in the way, while shifting your hand to reach the face buttons.

  • facetouch

Wow that’s really cool. I wonder if it performs well; Both the battery and the slider.

  • Gameboi834

Looks sweet, might look into buying it!

    • Mickey

you shouldn’t buy nyko products, I bought a battery for my 3ds from them and it messed up my street pass info and it wiped some of my system memory.

    • http://twitter.com/DonSerrot Don Serrot

@Mickey, that wasn’t Nyko’s fault, that’s what happens if the battery is taken out for too long. The only isue I had was I couldn’t streetpass with my sister, but then someone stole her 3DS (LAME) so it didn’t matter anymore anyway. You just have to be quick, or have the 3DS plugged in while you do it, I think that’d work too. I wonder if this will work by replacing the existing battery or work with it… “battery extender” makes me lean towards the latter.

    • Mickey

@ Don Serrot, that is actually a good idea, plugging it in while you change the battery. Maybe I’ll try one of their products again. If that strategy actually works

    • SakuMo

@Mickey: Question, did you have one of those replacement battery things? It’s best to stay away from those. I opted for the Nyko Power Grip, and I have zero troubles with it. It just slips on the system and boom, extra battery life. My only issue with it is that it gets a little hot when you play the system while the AC cord is plugged in.

  • DarmanitanMan

    How much $$ ?

    • Franco

      No price as of yet.

    • TOBI

      read man ! Its $29.99

    • George Tirebiter

@TOBI You read. That was an update to the original story. When they posted, the price wasn’t available yet.

    • Michael A

Ohhh shit tobi looks stupid now

  • https://boards.4chan.org/fit/ RIVER

Oh wow, this is better the original CCP.

However, it won’t be around when KHDDD comes out.

    Oh well.

    • Lazerith

If it was coming out before then, I would definitely get this over the CPP. It looks way cooler, and it has a battery extension.

But Kingdom Hearts would be better with a second slide pad, and this won’t be available before then. Though, I could always get this when it comes out and give the CPP to my girlfriend, who will eventually get Resident Evil: Revelations

    • Soeroah

Whaaat? Bugger. Otherwise I’d have got it.

I don’t really need extra battery life just yet, and the second circle pad would make the game easier…I hvae some considering to do.

  • ZimmerRemmiz

I like it, if it’s not to expensive I might get it…

  • Izel

Price has been revealed to be $29.99 on Nyko’s website

  • mikey

It would be more epic if the second stick was clickable. It can’t be though because it wouldn’t be compatible with games, it wouldn’t allow the 3ds to close, and it would leave a mark on the screen.

    • Lene

      And it would be useless…

    • SleepyGuyy

      I agree with Lene

  • MadCrain

    That shit looks AMAZING :D
    I am so getting it!

  • Paradox

lol looks way better than the circle pad pro

  • Vandz

    Wow this looks awesome!

  • Xemnas

I saw this a few hours ago.
    Im so buying this.
Im selling my circle pad pro.
    Triples battery.

  • Ispheria

    thats freaking sexy bro…

  • Peskiest

Wish I hadn’t bought the Power A case. This thing is the biggest waste of money in my life. It’ll def be getting replaced in Oct.

  • http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/16a07c1e06c4010a42f31cc4d1a0702d.png ABEzilla116

I wonder how much better the battery will be… I already have an extended battery that gives me about 14 hours…

    • http://www.youtube.com/flyinglevel Nick Knack

I don’t need extra battery life. My 3DS works best on stock battery.

    • http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/16a07c1e06c4010a42f31cc4d1a0702d.png ABEzilla116

@Nick Knack Well, that’s a bunch of crap. The 3Ds battery only lasts about 5 hours.

    • SakuMo

I have the original Power Grip, and I get about 18ish hours for DS games, about 12-15ish for 3DS games. Granted, I run the system at maximum brightness because I like to be BLINDED BY AWESOMENESS. lol Someone who is not so inclined could probably get more out of it. Anyhoo, since this is a “Pro” version of the Power Grip, I imagine battery life would be roughly the sameish.

    • http://www.brunorafaga.com Bruno Ráfaga

@ABEzilla116, this is not quite a problem, It’s not like you will find more than 5 hours free on a day to be playing games.

  • http://passid.ca/potter dsiderreck6

Does it have the extra triggers?

    • Kamkid

      yep
You can kinda see it in the 2nd pic

  • alex

    This I will buy :D

  • bill

This must be the peripheral for the “big oversight”.

  • the psvita is better

those who wanted the 3ds xl, well here you go ;)

  • Colaman-112

    Niicee

  • http://hybrilynx.net/ Hybrilynx

well the battery life is terrible beyond what someone can imagine. nothing i have to worry about anymore, though.

  • adrian12369

this is great! i might have to sell the cpp

  • http://mayker.tumblr.com Mayker

    Impressive!

…but I already have the Circle Pad Pro.

  • Davar

“…protects your 3DS from dings and scratches.”

That doesn’t happen to include the internal scratch issue does it?

  • George Tirebiter

I hope CTA takes a whack at this, because I love their battery extension.

  • Guy

Doesn’t look too bad. I don’t have the circle pad pro, but if I ever get a game that needs one, I’ll probably pick this up instead.

  • Sly Cooper

YES! i was just about to buy the dreamgear power case but BOOM! this get’s announced. october is pretty late though. but battery + circle pad pro? genius

  • Navolas

I’m crying out of the beauty. I’ll have to buy one… or two of these..

  • nambinhvu

I CALLED IT!!! TOP PART TO COVER THE EXTRA CIRCLE PAD!!! WOO WOO!!! I WIN :3

    • adrian12369

      good job!

  • Flygon

This is actually pretty cool. If I didn’t hate double joystick controls, this would be the one I’d get.

    • kamkid

… have you played anything other than the 3ds?

    • jdub

      The wii?

  • Zack

Woah, this is really cool! It’s like a circle pad pro, except with a battery too. And it doesn’t look like a retarded boat, but that’s another story.

  • Zack

What’s up with their demonstration 3DS? No decals, start/select/home buttons, 3D slider, camera lens, notification LED, or left speaker…

    • adrian12369

haha i didn’t even notice that

    • Poster9000

      It’s just a 3d model.

  • EnderBro11

Holy mother of fuck that’s sexy!

  • http://nintendoworlds.com TurboPikachu

Looks sleek and attractive, but I’m very skeptical of the extra circle pad. This is Nyko’s accessory, so I doubt their circle pad is even half as good as the one on Nintendo’s Circle Pad Pro.

  • PurpleStain

    Are you fucking kidding me?

JUST after I buy the circle pad pro?

    WELP.

  • screw you capcom and your horrible ways. i hope you all contract disentry fir the rest of your lives

    A few things.

    What are the triggers like?
Dies it plug into the charge outlet or replace the existing battery? If its the later I’m not getting it. 3rd party batteries are a recipe for disaster!

    • Vann

I suppose it plugs. I have the Nyko Power Grip and you just need to attach it. it actually works fantastic!
I’ve been playing all my games with the Power-saving mode off and it still gives me about 10 hrs of gameplay (3ds games, Ds games give me even more)

  • Natto1995

    hope its easy to reach the Y, X, A, B buttons…

  • http://youtube.com/Spagettit Spagettit

Will be getting it if they announce a dang FPS already. This system cries for one.

    • http://www.brunorafaga.com Bruno Ráfaga

      Agree with you!

    • Joshua

Conduit is supposed to be coming to the 3DS, idk when though =(

  • Soeroah

This is pretty much what I, and possibly many others, expected, really. Kind of obvious once the CCP was announced, that they’d need to make a battery/CCP hybrid.

I think I’ll wait before getting it…at the moment the only game I want with dual-pad support is KH, which comes out months before this accessory.

  • will4zoo

though, the question remains. can we change games with it attached?

  • Lizzie1238

Sounds pretty cool! Too bad it’s not coming out before KH3D.

  • clubmini123

D: I’m jelly of the 3 x battery life. (I has dream gears 2 x battery life).. but I doubt il ever need an extra circle pad.. il pass…

  • b2j135

    totally called it

  • Captain Falcon
  • Andrew

EPIC to bad I already bought Circle pad pro nintendos version…….this one looks epic as long as the part covering the top screen isint to heavy like the cover that eventually broke my ds lites hinge

  • Soma

looks much nicer than the circle pad pro, but does it have the triggers like the nintendo one?

  • Sean

I really like the look of this. It looks much better than Nintendos own effort.

  • Zed

Long sessions of MGS3D with the settings maxed, here I come.
    Still on the way.
Y’know what? I’ll just see you in October.

  • http://youtube.com/the8guys Dylan

    getting this! :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/GetMeOffTheMoon Michael M

    Sexy

  • nite2727

Looks great but does it have its own ZL, ZR and R buttons like the original circle pad pro?

  • Lunar Halo

All I can say is that it looks a LOT nicer than the original Circle Pad Pro.

  • http://www.fanfiction.net/~gamemaniac GameManiac

Now THIS is what I’m looking for, a comination of beneficial functions in one affordable package.

    I’m getting this.

  • TheREALhousewife

So you press your 3DS into it, so it won’t be clunky. Niiice

    • TheREALhousewife

But it might not be worth that extra $10

  • Theo

    Wow this is much better.

Seriously Nintendo fire the 5 yr old designers and buy out Nyko!

    • BlueToad

      I agree!

  • Kirk

Looks interesting. If I read some good reviews on this when it comes out I may have to replace my CPP with this. Maybe.

  • KHfan360

but will it be easy to take off because if not i’ll have to think about it because it’s already hard to take off the nerf case so I’ll have the think about it.

  • SakuMo

This is so epicly awesome. I have the regular Power Grip (which I LOVE), and I was considering getting the CPP for my upcoming KH purchase. That said, I was worried I’d have to sacrifice my awesome battery for the CPP. This is an excellent solution, and I’ll definitely be picking this up. I’ll probably end up giving my regular PG to my husband, lol.

  • BlueToad

I can’t wait to get this! Is this the only color for it?

  • jdub

I feel sorry for people with other colors than black

  • SleepyGuyy

Looks cool… also looks like a big-ass portable device. And I honestly don’t care if my 3DS only has 1 slider pad. But, it does look cool. I would be more impressed if the shell were metal, but I can’t tell from the photos. Im sure its a good product, that is useful for many.

  • freddy

Lol seriously Nintendo u bring out this just coz u rushed the 3ds and then realised u made an epic mistake u now ask ur fans to fork out 30 bucks for an extra analogue stick something that should have been on from the start!
The wii u gonna crash and burn and the 3ds will only last another year.once the new Xbox comes out no one will care for Nintendo anymore.

    • Thorhian

And here comes the trolls again. Go away Microsoft fanboy if your gonna be hating. Haters can go hate somewhere else :/

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/darkgamer001 darkgamer001

LOOOL most trolls are usually ignorant, but one that can’t even read makes for some epic entertainment for the rest of us

Okay…NINTENDO…NYKO…Now, I know this may be a bit hard for you to understand, but just because they both start with an ‘N’ and end with an ‘O’, doesn’t mean that they’re the same company.

As for any Nintendo device crashing and burning…isn’t it time you snapped out of dreamland? Stop acting like a little kid, you’re 13 now! ;)

    • Joshua

Darkgamer, that was a terrible comeback to the troll. Just saying lol.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/darkgamer001 darkgamer001

I’m just giving him a taste of his own medicine. Nothing wrong with that

    • canthia

you must be not to bright if you notice most nintendo 3ds games do not need a circle pad pro so it is more better to have it removeable also keeps the 3ds a smaller size.

  • PoisoNFacecamO

wow, bravo, Nyko just became my favorite accessory maker.

  • Total911

Wow, that would be great if I could keep my wrist strap on the console while I use it. Way to make a “perfect” product.
