Nintendo won’t be at Gamescom

Silja Gulicher, a spokesperson for Nintendo of Germany has said that, “although Gamescom is one of the most important fairs of the year for us, we’ve decided not to take part this year. Instead we plan to broaden our post-E3 activities to introduce our retail and media partners to the Wii U and the newest titles for 3DS.”

But, while this is a bummer, they are “planning a whole array of events that will offer our fans the opportunity to try out our latest titles”, and there’ll be “more information about that soon”.

      The first images from CoroCoro have started to come. These images showcase the first screenshots of Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 and provide a lot of information. First, the game is set in Unova and shows the new trainers and the rival. The game is set 2 years later than in BW and features the map of the Unova region being partially frozen, while other areas have been updated, such as Route 4. The Unova Pokédex has 300 Pokémon within it. There are various new areas in Unova including Hiougi City (ヒオウギシティ), where you begin your journey. There are other areas which has a gym leader who focuses upon Poison; Homika (ホミカ), who is also said to be in the anime this June and sits in her gym which is a music club, fitting her appearance with a guitar. Another gym leader is Shizui (シズイ), the Water-type leader. The trainer with the spiky hair is the rival and there is a new researcher called Akuroma (アクロマ) who researches Pokémon Strength
      Hiougi City has a Pokémon Centre and a Trainer School and areas where you can look upon the areas. There are shops, underwater tunnels with clear glass (Mantine flowing overhead), building with blue and red statues all around Unova.
      That’s all the information these scans provide.
      It has also been confirmed that Black Kyurem will know the move Freeze Shock and that White Kyurem knows the move Ice Burn.
      Within the new Unova Pokédex, which contains a combination of old and new (Unova) Pokémon, Psyduck is #026, Riolu is #033 and Metagross is #254, with other Pokémon such as Tyranitar, Lapras & Arcanine being available.       dont get me wrong. i like mario and all but sometimes i wish nintendo didnt rely on him all the time
      i can understand the wii u having a mario game at launch because it makes sense there
      but for the 3ds to get another mario game kinda doesnt sound to good
      then again, 2d and 3d mario games are different experiences

      That’s true I love Mario and have played and own all the games since snes but at times I feel like their starting to get too carried away with it that is until the game gets released and I have it in my hands and cant stop playing lol they should use all their creativity that they put into Mario and create a new fresh character and stop relying on him so much just as vita guy said lol

      Well, Mario is their flagship franchise so of course there’s gonna be a lot more games in the near future. But I still agree on the new IP idea.

      i dont care about a new ip, nintendo has too many already
      what they should do is use the ones that they already have, but that they never use like:
      -fzero
      -starfox
      -donkey kong with 3d world
      or to revive one of their old franchises
      and to release more frequently other franchises like
      -metroid
      -2d donkey kong
      etc.
      i mean i dont dislike mario or zelda or kirby or pokemon, but they have more ips they can use

      You can never get enough of Mario. When people think of video games, they think Mario. Also, there’s a new Zelda on the way for 3DS and probably Wii U, an F-ZERO possibly for the Wii U, rumours of a Donkey Kong for 3DS, a new Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U, possibly more first party titles from Nintendo, and with the success of Kid Icarus on the 3DS, expect one for the Wii U.

      Or earthbound, and/or maybe not wait 25 years for another kid Icarus, but I don’t expect one in at least 2 years or after ssb4. Maybe they can continue using the other ones, but at least they should make some changes, lately Mario has being somewhat repetitive, I mean, it’s the same story with different power ups and some enemies.

      How sweet would it be if it had really beautiful sprite graphics like Super Mario 3? Or what if they continued to do a Super Mario World 3? Oh… The possibilities.

      When it comes to Mario, I’d much rather see another Super Princess Peach game. It took the typical formula and flipped it on its ear, which is simple, but I liked it. Just maybe don’t use emotion powers next time, as that was kind of insulting to me as a female, lol.

      Sure, maybe Nintendo over relies on mario, but they have a jackpot with him. Literally, the reason they neglect other series is maybe the don’t fit in the market now, that’s why they use mario a lot, because he fits with any type of gamer in any game period.
