Well, I agree with you on one part. There’s already texting, no need for the app. HOWEVER, texting isn’t available on the Nintendo 3DS. Which is why they brought us SwapNote! And HEY, doesn’t texting cost you a certain amount of money per month? SwapNote is for FREE! What fun it would bring to us just having this useful tool on the 3DS!

Please note that I was once a Nintendo fanboy when I was young, like you guys. Then (I took an arrow in the knee), a marvelous revelation occured to me: I GREW UP. Realizing how long Nintendo has lagged behind in terms of technology over recent years, I came to disliking Nintendo. I gave up on them when they released the Wii, a console with barely any 3rd-party content. I don’t like the direction they’re heading. Plus, I DO NOT like how they haven’t evolved in hardware manufacturing (e.g. why won’t the Wii U have video playback, like every gameplaying device on Earth has? Is that supposed to make them “special?” Also, by special, I mean impaired). Nintendo has billions of dollars at their disposal, yet, they are EXTREMELY stubborn and nihilistic about the concerns of their fans. They never rely on fan feedback for ANYTHING. I thought they would have learned something by now, but nope. Nadda. Nothing. Zilch. Cero. Nintendo’s gonna be in trouble once the global economy collapses next year. Sony and Microsoft, however, will make it through, because they invest billions more in other products BESIDES videogames. Unless Nintendo manufactures phones or any other mobile devices….I don’t even want to think about what may happen. If I were them, I’d go the way of Sega before it’s too late. Make up your minds already and look ahead, not behind you! -_-’

You can watch Video Playback on there using an app. Too bad most people will never experience it, because theyre either scared that Nintendo will ban them or they will brick their Wiis, even though the only possible way you could do that is if you were an idiot who cant follow directions. Ive had my Wii hacked sense 2009, and i still havent been banned, when will you guys realize that Nintendo has no way of bricking your wii over an online connection, its pretty much impossible. But im getting ahead oif myself, my point is, hack your Wii if you get bored of it. Thats pretty much the only reason i still enjoy my Wii besides Mario kart wii, Animal Crossing , and Virtual Console.

I hate to tell you this, but Nintendo is seen as the better way forward for many people. Firstly, the Wii did not cost $499.99 at launch and it continues to be the least expensive console to date. Sure it might not be graphically superior or boast a major online system, but in turn it is slicker, less expensive, and more reliable. Having experienced an Xbox 360 (which constantly overheated after about 2 hours of gameplay, despite being placed in an open area) , I still find the Wii experience superior. I cannot really compare the Wii to the PS3 because I have not used that console proficiently enough to make a conclusion.

I do admit that Nintendo did not make the best move by not bringing video playback through DVDs, and of course the Wii does not have a Blu-Ray Player. This of course will turn off some customers, but I usually buy or rent stuff off of iTunes which does not work other game consoles, so not having blu-ray or DVDs is not a deal breaker for me. I also mainly use the console to play games.

Also, this messaging app is not meant to replace mobile phones, it is meant to be a quick thing for when you and a friend are using the console and you want to quickly inform them of something. Also, being a senior student in secondary school, I can tell you that my friends and I will be getting this application, because its purpose as a quick messaging system is very useful in a school with WiFi, especially for one friend who does not have unlimited texting on his phone.

TLDR this little back-and-forth. I will say two things:
GSC up there seems to be portraying himself as superior to the rest of the commentators on this blog, and that is basically the calling card of the Internet Idiot. I won’t be affording them any additional attention.

Second, I like Nintendo because they are specifically a gaming company, not an electronics giant that also happens to have a console. It means that their continued success depends on their performance in this one realm and a bad console can’t be stuffed full of money they made from other products. It makes them more volatile but they’re still going strong, and that’s a testament to their methods and ideas thus far.

I totally agree with you. I feel the same way. Yet. keep in mind that Nintendo is the most stubborn-minded videogame company in the world to this very day. They never listen to ANY of their fans, and when they do, “Hello! Thanks for your concern. We’ll document this random reply for future discussions,” which is never noted again. In other words, “What’s wrong with THEM?!” By now, they should have realized how far technology outside of their fantasy realm of gaming has come so far. Yet, when it’s presented and used (like the Wii), it becomes unfullfilled in throughout time infinitum once gamers (especially the hardcore crowd) come to realise that their new Nintendo machine lags behind the current hardware of other companies. I really feel sorry for them, but I guess it’s too late to express forgiveness, since they turned they’re back on me.

Also, I’d like to point out that, had Nintendo and Sony had worked together back in 1993, ONLY then would Nintendo match up with the current tech of today. Instead, Sony was able to kick their asses for 2 generations of videogaming straight through (PS1>N64, PS2>NGC), with Nintendo only recovering with the Wii and DS series. The Wii U WILL NOT be “innovative.” The 3DS is destined to hit another sales slump later next year come the global economic collapse.

When will people get it that Nintendo purposely didn’t put a lot of power in the Wii so it can be affordable at a nice price? I think they were very smart to wait until now to make a powerful console, cause now, the technology is much cheaper and the console won’t cost 599 US Dollars.

If you somehow know that the Wii U will not be “innovative” (as if the Wii wasn’t?)… how the heck is PS3/Microsoft innovative?! Apart from Kinect (which i do enjoy playing at friends’ houses), they have pretty much been generic gaming consoles. Basically same controllers, same popular games (halo, etc), and all they do is improve power and graphics. We’ve seen that. Microsoft hasn’t even made a handheld yet! Sony on the other hand, has. It did take a different turn on handhelds from the DS series (and yes, the ds does have same “controller” if you want to call it, but that’s kinda hard to change… if its the same series of handheld… psp hasn’t changed much either), but now with Vita, they have stolen the most popular selling point of the DS. Touch Screens. Why do you think they made PS Move? Wii’s innovation. It’s pretty much the same as the Wii… you hold a remote with a ball on top.

So, to add to my first sentence… how the heck do you know if the Wii U will be innovative or not?! And, how do you know that the 3DS sales will slump (and that other things won’t) during the global economy collapse (that you also seem to think you know will happen)?

Also, if you guys want a Multimedia device, get a smartphone/ipod touch/tablet…

Really? Well, motion-gaming didn’t seem to convince enough 3rd-parties to support Nintendo’s “brilliant tech,” as opposed to Sony and Microsoft, the companies that you said were “Not exactly high-tech.” Motion control is a gimmick. A GIMMICK. This is why Sony and Microsoft, inventing the PSmove and Kinect respectively, took motion control to the next level as an OPTIONAL accessory for PARTY-based software. Nintendo, on the other hand, uses motion control for universally ALL their Wii games, which is why the indie developers took to dumping crappy shovelware titles, like Red Steel 1 and 2, on this technologically INFERIOR console. Any human being alive can figure that out. The Wii only sold more than the other two because they tricked buyers into thinking it was “high-tech” when in reality, it wasn’t. The Wii is an upgraded Gamecube with motion control. Plain and simple. You can say the same about the 360 and the PS3, but they’re justifiable in their own right. Nintendo is too stubborn to accept the truth.

Not everyone likes motion control, especially in the somewhat idiotic way Nintendo presents it. -_-’

Wasn’t he the guy that made the ill-fated Virtual Boy? Nintendo doesn’t need anymore failures. (On the other hand, he did come up with the successful Game Boy, I think.)

Just to be clear, I’m not a Sony fanboy, if you’re referring to me. I’m only as human as humans can get. Merely stating the obvious. No pun intended. What I am trying to make clear to people is that I go for the technologically superior and potentially more successful platform that 3rd Party developers will feel comfortable leaning towards (the reason why the PS3 and 360 libraries are larger and more diverse than the Wii’s). I’ll agree that the Nintendo DS was more successful the PSP. There’s no point in hiding that obvious fact. The 3DS vs. PSVita, there will HAVE to be a change in that at some point next year.

About 2 weeks ago the comments got bad cause of new idiots coming to the site and I got sick of reading “F*** Nintendo for delaying the game (when it was a different company who did the game/delayed it) F*** them! F******************** them!” Its just frickin stupid that I don’t like to read the comments anymore:(

It was mostly because of you, yes, but there are other people that post comments that just don’t make sense. For example there was one guy that just started posting “Meh” on every new post on the blog, I found that completely unnecessary.

I also see that although you state that you are not a Sony fanboy you pretty much only play on Sony’s consoles. You should get your facts straight, both the N64 and NGC were superior to PS1 and PS2 on raw power, we saw that with games like Donkey Kong 64 and Resident Evil 4, you can also see it on spec sheets. I actually preferred the N64 over the PS1 because it really brought to relevance the 3D worlds that could be created on consoles, although it lost in sales, to me it won in respect to the changes it brought to the gaming world.

Now the NGC is a different story, the PS2 wiped the floor with it because it didn’t have as much 3rd party support as the PS2 did. I don’t know what was the reason for it but most games were made for PS2, I guess it was because it came up pretty early and most developers were already used to it. I loved the GameCube because of the incredible Nintendo games like Wind Waker, but it ultimately lose to the superior library of games on PS2.

This is taking to long, but I hope you got my point. Superior technology does not equal success.

im not a fanboy in the sense that i loved playing the ps2 nad ps1, along with the xbox gc 360, snes, nes, ect. my cousin owns a ps1 ps2 gc wii and ps3. my fave games form ps2 are the sly series, the kh series, and the jak and daxter series. oh yeah and i owned a purple gba, ds, gbmicro, and now a 3ds. and a computer cause i also like pc games. im not a biased person, i just hate how sometimes fanboy’s of any company just start flaming you for saying something entitled to your own opinion. the world will always have trolls until it finally reaches its end. oh well. ummm. ok so a nonserious question, what is your favorite food?
