Nintendo is holding a press conference on January 19th in Amsterdam

First it was a tweet. And now it appears to be fact. I’m having trouble finding the actual press release announcing this, but as mynintendonews.com reports, Nintendo has apparently said:

> Please mark your calendar for January 19th 2011 and plan to attend an exclusive Nintendo event in Amsterdam. The event begins at 3 p.m. CET and will continue into the evening. More details will be coming soon, so be on the lookout!

“The invite makes no mention of the 3DS,” according to Slash Gear, but I doubt Nintendo is going to be hosting an event about the vitality sensor or anything like that. Expect the release date and price in Europe to be announced for our beloved handheld. I wonder if it will cost €249.99.

It’s a pity we can’t be at the event (bit of a hike from Australia), but I know there’s a few readers who live near Amsterdam, so feel free to sneak in and live blog it for us. But don’t tell anyone I sent you.

    I’ll put on a Mario suit and try to fool people in thinking that I’m just a 3D hologram created by the 3DS so I can sneak in.

    MAH COOKIE!!! NOOOOO!!! Lol. But seriously this makes me think that the USA will be getting their price and release date soon because, lets face it, as much as Nintendo hates the USA, they hate Europe even more and thus there is a history of the USA getting things before Europe.       I don’t think there’s going to be any announcements. But maybe try calling GameStop? See if they have information?

    It says “plan to attend”, so I highly doubt it will be a private conference.
    Lucky Europe, I hope your price is low, and I also hope they come to America soon.

    ummmm this also might be an event about the wii2 or successor system but most likely it will be about the 3ds

      It’s not. Nintendo have said they don’t plan to talk about the next Wii until the current Wii reaches a much higher sales count.
