Nintendo denies the reports from Nikkei

Nikkei reported that a 3DS XL will be announced at E3 2012. Nintendo, however, has denied this is the case:

The Company has not announced what was confirmed or fact, that contains a number of mistakes is entirely speculation of Nihon Keizai Shimbun article of Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported today (“against Nintendo, in Sumaho”).

And that, to me, squashes the possibility.

      The Sony conference just ended. It was ok……. and the nintendo one is tomorrow at 9 am.

    Squashes the possibility? They flat out denied other Nikkei reports and they came true. I’d say that this might have MORE truth to it now. Of course I’ll still treat it as a rumour

    Companies always deny these types of rumors. They aren’t going to confirm it before their presentation- that would ruin the suspense.

    If they ever did make a 3ds xl i would be mad since i got all my friends to get a 3ds and then they release a better one….:(

    well i dont want a redesign anyways,
    and what most people dont realize when asking about a redesign, is the two stick problem
    yeah you can add two analog sticks to the 3ds, but what about the extra shoulder buttons?
    all games that use the circle pad pro also use the extra shoulder buttons so how would you solve that?

      Basically, you cannot really call the 3DS XL a portable device, because it would be too fat and big.

    The only thing I want to confirmed/denied officially is whether Luigi’s Mansion 2 is coming to the WiiU, since that listing has been floating around due to a listing.

    they didn’t necessarily deny it. they just said the haven’t yet confirmed it. and what if there is a new model not with a bigger screen but with the second circle pad and triggers . ya never know

    I really hope this happens, but I’m cool if it doesn’t too. I’m all for a bigger screen and everything…I don’t know what people are talking about saying it’s too big as it is…if anything I think it’s a tad too small.
    Anyway, while I’m not getting my hopes up, I haven’t ruled this rumor out just yet. Have we considered that earlier this year they slid in that firmware update that enables your data to be transferred to a new system? Not that that makes a big argument, but hey-it’s worth mentioning.
    Also, it was just short of two years time that the original DS got the DS Lite treatment so I wouldn’t rule out anything yet. It’s Nintendo…we should all know by now that they just do whatever they heck they want and most of the time it sounds crazy but after a few months, we all love it.
    With how much criticism the 3DS’s anatomy has gotten, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was legit.

    Dunno why people think a redesign is so far off. The 3DS was revealed two E3s ago. The DS Lite was unveiled the second E3 after the DS was unveiled. Going by that logic… They could totally reveal a new 3DS. If not this year, I’m almost positive that they will next E3.

    Look back at the Gameboy Advance- how long was it on the market before the SP released? A little over a year and a half? It’s inevitable
