Someone has a Nintendo 3DS. Who is that someone? Well it’s apparently a Chinese factory worker who smuggled the device off-site. Problem is, he posted it on a forum (I believe it’s this forum) but the thread was deleted. Probably because it’s like, illegal.
**Updated:** We’ve got new photos with the back cover off, with the 3DS beside Nintendo’s other handhelds and a shot that confirms this device has no software installed on it at this point in time.

WHAT?! That is crazy! Good thing he didn’t get his face caught in the reflection of the screen. . . a non-official picture like that makes me like blue better; I don’t like the way cosmos black looks.
Nice
Holy…….wow. Don’t even know what else to say. Why in the world would he post pics online? He better have been behind 400 proxies or something!
GOOD LUCK

Wow ,what do you think the course of action will be david?

David… You got a job in China and stole one, didn’t you? aha
Oh no, they’re on to me! runs and hides
I just hope the guy ends up alright. No idea what kind of trouble he could end up in, but I just hope he gets out okay. That being said, I also hope he keeps posting pictures. Dilemma :c
The funny thing with this is that it’ll end up on eBay, just like all the rest of the underpaid chinese employees do. Some of them are sneaky tho with ip addresses and what not, so lets hope the authorities don’t find him till we get more pics, and before they find the pictures so we can see them.
Did this person really steal it or just took a photo at the assembly line or elsewhere? And if this person really got it at home, does he or she also got any game? Why no photo with the device turned on?
I doubt he’d have any games. They’d be manufactured elsewhere. And I’m short on any other details. I only report on what I hear. :)
It looks like he brought it to his office or computer desk so it looks like it could be from home or work.
As you can see, the picture with all of the DS’s turned on, you can see the 3DS is turned on too.
Why is the analog stick white?
In no other picture before it was white, it always had the same color as the unit.
I hope it is fake. Don’t like it in white or gray.
It is white/gray. Check more recent images of the 3DS. The change was first shown off on September 29th.

Holy! He should post more stuff for us!
xD unbelievable… but what if it is only a hollow shell? ^^
We may never know. :P
hahaha David David David the stuff you find lol cool beans! :D
He would be rich if he sold it on Ebay!
No, he’d be an idiot. eBay would take it down in an instant AND he’d be giving away his address. herpaderp.
Do we know what he posted other than the picture, or was that all?
Not sure. All I saw was the picture unfortunately. Thread was deleted before I got to it.
Here is a picture of it turned on, it appears as if it has yet to have the OS installed on it.

Brilliant. :D
At the first picture I thought OK its real, but the second one makes me think Hey, how rich is this chinese assembly-line-worker? He s got 4 NDS, a Gameboy micro and the stolen 3DS. Quite a lot for a chinese worker, hm? And look at the Samsung TFT in the background. Somethings fishy about that…
Smuggled those as well? :P
to Carsten : Don’t you think he is big fan of Big N and that’s why he has all consoles. (I think Nintendo assembly-workers, have money. If not, he can just save the money for new consoles.)
@Carsten:
Maybe they’re not all his? He could’ve borrowed them or something. :P
Nintendo’s gonna find the guy.
Nintendo has their ways.
Even though it has no software, this guy will make a lot of money selling it on eBay…

And… Just saw Rollo’s links :P
And… there up.
And… I just made a stupid spelling error.

Interesting it says 96 MB for the Memory Mode, If that is RAM then that is more than the 64 MB people were speculating the 3DS had. Cool
Hmmm that is quite interesting David what do you think about the 96 mb memory???
By the way, David, congratulations on the excelent job on this website. You’re the only source for this piece of news – a proof of how your 3ds blog is THE place to go for 3DS information… Congratulations on a job well done.
Thanks man. I do what I can. :)
will it be hacked before it hits the shelfs ^^ haha
Holy shit guys, it has 96Mb of RAM!
http://i53.tinypic.com/1jrtpx.jpg
S that a lot? I’m afraid I have no knowledge in thar department
I find it hilarious that the man posted pictures of a ton of other Nintendo consoles, all most likely stolen by him. At least, it does raise that suspicion.
I wish he’d take it apart and let us examine the internals of this thing.
Great idea!!!
Also what about…will it blend?!
Well i guess it is kinda cool… but he doesnt have the software i would like to see…
haha that guy has guts ^^
Finally!!!
Good job, (even though stealing is bad).
Our first proper hardware leak.
I really feel ashamed for you, why do you think is the theft
Do you have evidence that this is stealing it? . It seems likely that internal staff photos photography
PS: I am a Dutch, so English is poor

Thankyou Mr Chinese worker :D

LOL, this is pretty crazy! Don’t think it can do much harm if he’s only taking pictures, but if it disappears all of a sudden i think it’s safe to suspect Sony ;).
maybe this guy will disassemble it and we will be able to see the 3DS CPU
well from the looks of things it seems to have 96mb’s of memory left so maybe it has 100mb? doesnt seem to have much to store atm. im guessing thats unified RAM for both CPU & GPU…maybe audio aswell, but that might be seperate.
What if Nintendo Made an anoucment and it was
Nintendo 3ds will be delayed until the stolen unit is returned. thank you.
I hope not! Beside, this 3DS is NOT really working. Maybe it’s not final-FINAL.
wow, I’m shocked that some guy would do this, but it’s so awesome. Did he just snatch the thing and run? He probably lost his job
He’s obviously good at this type of thing. Did you see all the other handhelds he had? Wouldn’t be surprised if he smuggled those as well.

Memory Mode: 96 MB
does this mean that the 3ds has 96 MB of RAM instead of 64 MB?!?
Mh I guess that the 96 mb are free, because there is not the final software on it. As you can see theres just a black screen with white letters. Maybe the final software is eating many mb…. I am just thinking i dont know…..
Sorry for bad english, i am a german dude, dude! :D
Hmmm that is quite interesting David what do you think about the 96 mb memory?
How to take a leak.
lol what?
David my friend you’ve become the spot for 3DS news it’s amazing! I remember when Pokejungle was the treasure trove for Pokémon Black and White, good times.
maybe the ds’s and gba micro were stolen as well…. damn lucky…
ach,do you think we Chinese cant afford a DS or a GBA?
not chinese as whole, but the factory worker.
by the why are you so pissed off?? ehmm.. are you the one whose upload the pics..?!

Awesome find David! You is the man!
With these numbers on the back that indentify the device I guess the manufacturer can tell when, where and by whom the device was assembled. They can tell it was assembled in factory XY at 14:37 pm by Fong Lee. Hey Igor…find that Fong guy and bring him to me…alive!
This is funny lol. This also happened to Sony with their PS3 Slim!
You mean this happened to every single hot item made in china: Iphone etc.

That’s interesting…..what idiot steals a 3DS with no software??? The reason there’s no pictures of the 3DS on and running is because he probably stole it straight off the hardware part of the assembly line, as in, the 3DS was stolen before the actual software was put in, only the physical 3DS was stolen, its software wasn’t put on it yet. In any case, I kinda want the Blue one because I already have too many red and black video game systems. :/ and plus, this blue looks nice. Much better than the DSi blue…I didn’t like that shade.

why would you think stolen??
I knew that something like this would happen. Man, many Chinese really think that the can get away with everything. China is really pushing their luck. Us Filipinos are already angry at them so if Nintendo or whole Japan is angry, they would probably send Godzilla.
Maybe they changed the colour of the slide pad because there was a problem with the original design. Maybe the colour wore away after not too long. And I’m hoping it was stolen off an assembly line, that would explain why the inside appears to be unglazed which makes it look shabby. The factory worker story seems to have been worn out by this massive thread, it could just be a diversion for the authorities…
