Nicalis has announced they’re bringing VVVVVV to the eShop. VVVVVV is a 2D action-platformer in which you play as Captain Viridian who is trying to save a dimension in danger, along with the crew of his ship. The 3DS version of the game will include six levels with open-world environments and full 3D graphics. Nicalis promises new features, levels and future content updates. There’s a screenshot after the break.

Sweet I played the games demo on steam and just so you guys know, its awesome, but i believe its awfully short.

    • Viridian

      Thats why its in eShop.

  • Xarreno

Looks nice, a littile like dark void zero maybe? Love that game, DVZ.

  • PixelKnot93

Looks like a Atari 2600 port. lol

Still interested in this game though.

  • Cornholio

    I am pleased.

  • Mark

this is going to be awesome, i bought this game on steam and although the graphics are really lo-fi, the soundtrack is a chiptune masterpiece. the game itself is great and has a fun story, there is no jumping per se, you keep flipping gravity to get where you need to. some of the bonus areas are downright insane, it’s kind of like a cross between super meat boy and antipole, I’ll be buying this on release day.

    YESYESYESYESYES

  • Glass Moe

I kept thinking this should hit the eShop after seeing that knockoff Antipole.

    New content? Sweet!

  • Alex

YES! I wanted to play this game really bad, but I don’t care for steam. I’m so getting this now!

  • Yanikun

    “Full 3D graphics?”

With full 3D I didn’t expect that to mean only stereoscopic 3D.

  • Potato

A warning to anyone who wants this game, it can be very frustrating and hard

    • http://icarusuprising.wordpress.com Arkatox

Only the first time through. After that it’s just FCKING AWESOME!

  • Rod

    Before people start getting worried:
David worded that last part poorly. It won’t have full 3D graphics. It’ll still be 2D sprites. He meant that the game will have full stereoscopic 3D effect.
Sorry David, I’m not trying to be a jerk. That last sentence was just a bit misleading.

    • Fwiller

It was Franco, not David. David isn’t the only one who writes for this site.

    • rod

I know sorry, I didn’t look at the authoring thing t the bottom.

  • Ty

Yeah! I love this game! Except it’s ridiculously hard… I wonder if the analogue graphics mode (makes it look like its being displayed on a tube tv kinda) will be included

Looks good. I hope there are more 3ds eshop games from small groups.

    • http://icarusuprising.wordpress.com Arkatox

“Looks good”? VVVVVV is one of the best games ever made! :D :D :D

    • I am Error

This one is quite a pain if you don’t have quick reflexes and patience, I saw a demo in 4chan /f/lash, played it ’till I couldn’t take the pressure anymore, I managed to beat the game but there were some artifacts to gather along the way, I got 17 out of 20 I think.

    The graphics suck!!!

    • Jorge TG

Ummm, that’s the idea, it’s supposed to be a retro-style, pseudo 8-bit game.
