Jools Watsham of Renegade Kid has tweeted that Mutant Mudds will only cost $8.99 when it arrives on the eShop at some point in the near(ish) future. An exact release date is unknown though. The game is a retro 2D puzzle platformer with the ability to send the main character between the foreground and background.

It’s illegal, so I don’t want to, but the tax is such BS. It’s going to screw you over in the end, because you’ll be like $0.20 short for a game, and then have to spend another $5. They should make it like Steam or PSN. You pay the amount the game is, and that’s it. If that was the case, I would buy so much more. The only thing I’ve bought it Pushmo, and I wanted it enough to actually buy $10 worth.
You don’t have to pay in $5 increments anymore. Even if you don’t have the funds, just click Purchase and it’ll ask if you want to add the exact funds you’re missing.

People are always whining about eShop games being too expensive just because the app store sells games for so much less. While they may only cost a couple bucks, you’re forgetting one thing…. THEY SUCK. You get what you pay for, I mean it’s as simple as that. A 99 cent game is worth no more than 99 cents, and a $9 eShop game is worth $9. A $8.99 game is going to have way more content and be 9x more fun AT LEAST. I mean, come on…. 9 bucks isn’t a lot at all considered retail games are about $30 – $40. 9 Dollars is a really reasonable price for a good game.

$9 is a fair price. The game is really good, so it can’t have a lower price.
Plus it is a different audience. With the 3DS, it’s a game system that they are trying to sell you a game for. The iPhone, on the other hand, is a phone that they are trying to sell you a game for.
Although, personally, seeing that they are trying to sell me a game that looks like it belongs on the SNES for almost $10, it doesn’t look very appropriate. I’d consider it for $6, $7 tops, yet they charge $9. They don’t seem to be marketing it very well. It appears to just be a shallow sidescroller with a unique gameplay feature, and that isn’t enough to warrant my purchase. Maybe if they showed off some interesting story features, like Cave Story, or something…
Sometimes you get an e-shop game that is crap and overpriced, but for the most part I agree
I used to think the same thing about those cheap 99 cent apps..until I got an iPod Touch! I have over 30 DSiWare and eShop titles and I think the cheap 99 cent games on the iPod can be much more entertaining. Almost all the games have some sort of internet connectivity and you can connect many of them with Facebook. Games on the iPod or a much better value. You don’t get what you pay for, you get more!
Depends on the length, if it’s replayable, and a charming game overall. The price makes me want to turn away, but I do want to play it. I’m going to check it out online.
MTE. At $10 (12% tax for me), this is a game I probably won’t pick up unless it has got a good amount of gameplay time and replayability. I did like the music and the retro aesthetics, but not enough to drop $10 on a game I’ll only be playing for a couple hours.

$10 for a couple of hours is not expensive. If you go to a lasergame/town/dome arena it usually costs $6 for 20 minutes. two beers at a medium priced bar, $10.
Youre just part of the all-for-free generation that values nothing and pays for as little as possible. Im not saying im not, but i do understand that im stupid sometimes when considering stuff “to expensive” when they’re really not.
compair this game ($8.99) that has a couple of hrs and a $40.00 game that has only 3 hrsof gameplay(polit wings resort) and you’ll see that this is a good deal
Are you kidding me? “All-for-free generation?” I didn’t say I wasn’t going to get it at all and I’m managing my money because of all the games lately. I don’t want to be $9 dollars short for an “at release buy” of any of the 3DS games coming out this year (with at least 6 good ones so far). You understand, right? :)

That’s your opinion. Everyone saying that $10 is a reasonable price and/or good deal is expressing their OPINION. I’m not trying to discourage anyone else from getting the game, I just won’t be getting it (unless online reviews can convince me otherwise). In my opinion, $10 isn’t worth 2-3 hours of game time.

The price seems just a tad on the high side for me but I’m glad they went with 8.99 instead of 9.99. It may only be a dollar difference but I feel like a lot more sales will be made with an 8.99 price point than a 9.99 one. 8.99 just seems less…intimidating. Anyway, the game looks great and I can’t wait to play it! Hopefully soon….its been on the “coming soon to eshop” section of the eshop for what seems like forever…

I have a question about the demos… since you only get 30- uses remaining, if they run out, can’t you just delete that software and redownlode it?
look in the eshop manual- it says you can’t. but you can play the demo several times while opening it up only once. Once i get a bigger SD card i’ll keep it on anyways, even when i run out of uses. This might seem selfish, but i like having a lot of things on there, it makes it look like more icons i have. (VERY greedy indead >:D )

If it is only a couple hours then the price is too high. I’ve put over 30 hours into Pushmo and I’m still playing it. If there’s a lot of playtime I’ll buy it.

That’s surprisingly highter than I had expected. It looks about on the same level of production as Anonymous Notes: From the Abyss, which was only 2 dollars.

eshop games arent even worth anything anymore. mighty switch force wasnt good, pushmo was okay, but not worth it. even that zen pinball game is better not even thinking about getting. this will just be one of those games. i dont know why they wont make anything good anymore like pictobits or something.

I would buy this game for $4.99. but at the price they have it at, no thanks! Also Nintendo doesn’t let developers lower the prices of their games on Nintendo’s digital downloading services (eShop and WiiWare) so this price looks permanent, even if they creator wanted to offer it at a discount in the future. They have even gone so far as to ask devs and publishers not to release download numbers so we will never know how good/bad this game did for sales. What a joke.
