I already shared my doubt that the appearance of a “Nintendo Network” logo on the box art for a game was more than a re-branding of the 3DS’s network connectivity features. And that was before I was reminded that Mario Kart 7 connects to the Nintendo Network every time you want to play against others via the internet.
But a conveniently anonymous source has apparently said that:
Nintendo will launch a website accessible from any web browser that will handle configuration of your Nintendo Network account for use on the Wii U or 3DS. He also stated that Nintendo Network will include many new features that haven’t been used before by Nintendo. According to his accounts: Nintendo Network = Sony PSN = Xbox Live.
If I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it. But this quote is so vague that it could be chalked up to a lucky guess if Nintendo does end up making interesting changes in the future. It also seems to be exactly what people want to hear, which makes me hesitant to believe it’s anything but total baloney.
cartoon network, then playstation network…now nintendo network.
dont forget pornprosnetwork ;)
nicktoons network :)
Awesome if it’s true :)
YES.
Nintendo NEEDS this.
I agree wit mayker.
Hope this is true
i hope it is a gonna be a think in a system update that we will acsess in the friends list so we will not have to close a game :)
what? you can go on your frends list while suspending your game
dude -_- i ment.. if this is a (free) app that is gonna be on the eshop, then i would hope for it to be just an ugrade to the friends list so you can acess nintendo network through friends list, meaning you do not close the game
ohh by bad. in that case iAgree….
I’m still expecting an update that makes you put your apps on a folder similar to apple products, and it would be cooler if it even let you use more that. One thing at a time without having to close it, even if it has a limit.
if true there taking a step in the right direction.
Well, they did say they were going to overhaul their online for the launch of the Wii U, so I guess anything is possible. I think Nintendo Network is just the new name of their online service- nothing more.
baloney!
It’s not baloney! You’re forgetting that Nintendo said that there were going to be a new ”network” and that it was going to be accessible directly from the internet, smartphones, etc.!!! It’s not BALONEY!!!
LOL i know XD i said baloney because david said baloney and i find that amusing :D
baloney!
Isn’t it spelled balogna?
Balogna is also spelt baloney or boloney.
being like 5 years late is better then nothing i guess.
More like Xbox Live and PSN were 5 years too early.
LOL i wonder when we are getting 3D on the home console? on the third wii u? and glasses three on the tenth one?
Nintendo has already confirmed that Wii U will be 3D capable (of course being glasses free capable will depend on the television companies)
woah wii u will be 3D? the same exact feel i have with the 3DS being 3D. whatever couldnt care less… not unless there is gonna be a giant badass SMG3(D) on the wii u yoshi and mario in 3D :D
There’s already glasses free 3D TV’s but only in Japan as far as I know. They’ll probably show up sometime this year everywhere else, if not then definitely next year.
Problem is that they’ll cost you shit so it might not be worth it, play on your old plasma/LCD TV until there’s actually something worth putting into 3D. Home consoles, even PS3 and 360 already have good graphic as it is 3D wouldn’t change game experience too much. Handhelds have more joy from it.
Nintendo also mentioned that while the Wii U CAN play games in 3D, it’s not going to be the main selling point at all. I’m assuming they only added the 3D because either; 1. They could or 2. They want to give developers more options.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 also support 3D. The Wii U will support 3D too, but Nintendo said it isn’t going to be their focus- so we may only get some 3rd party games that are 3D. The only one that is serious about 3D gaming is Sony- though they may be pushing it due to the fact that they make 3DTVs.
i dont know why 3d would be anyones selling point. whatever selling point means. if you bought a 3ds for the 3d, or even a movie or tv, i dont know whats wrong with you.
I thought adding the 3D meant it was going to be able to connect with the 3DS. Oh well, I knew it was a longshot, but I still wanted the 3DS to possibly becoming a controller for the Wii U. If that was the case, then 6 people could possibly play (5 controlling 3DSes and 1 with the Wii U).
Hellfire and damnation!
… to all who doubt nintendo!!
Nintendo did confirm eShop on the web, where you could buy stuff from the eShop on mobile devices and than send them to your 3DS. It was said that the first version of the site would use QR codes, and later versions would allow for direct purchases (which most likely requires a user account system). Maybe this is somehow connected to Nintendo Network.
Didn’t Nintendo say that they would allow the Nintendo eShop to be accessed through computers and smartphones in 2012? Apparently, you’ll be able to do this with “Nintendo Network” as well. I wonder if the eShop will be re-branded…
You mean bologna? XD
I think it’s either just a new name or that it’s for games with advanced online. For example Mario Kart 7 has the best online on 3DS so far and had Nintendo Network and this supports paid DLC.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. You get the idea.
maybe for the Wii U, but i dont think something like this will be for the 3DS
Well 3DS is the next gen. portable device. Why do you think Nintendo is allowing the Wii and DS coexist with the Wii U and 3DS?
Maybe Nintendo will make the same with the DS-DSi, putting the Nintendo Network only on the 3DS new model. *now don’t throw stones on me*
Fine, I’ll jab you with a deku stick.
Nintendo Network’s purpose has finally been revealed! http://3dstribe.com/news/nintendo-network-3ds/ (they basically renamed Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to Nintendo Network and changed the logo)
Yes, but it *can* be more. Nintendo have said they have plans to make the eShop better (like putting it on the Web) and that the Wii U online will be good.
Hey, this is exactly what I hoped for (It was in the last Nintendo Network related post)! Dreams do come true! 8)
You sure dreams don’t SMELL LIKE CHERRIES!?
FUCK YES!
Actually Nintendo DID say that they were eventually going to make the eShop accessible from web browsers and smart phones, so this is probably what they are talking about. To what extent they carry that out is a mystery, but that fact is something Nintendo themselves said
Interesting….
SHHHH HOW DID THIS GET OUT! I DON’T UNDERSTAND!
*EXPLODES*
I like the idea but the unoriginal name makes me FURIOUS! OUTRAGED! SICK WITH ANGER!
It’s way better than “Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection”.
I caught that reference to tLoZ: SS. :D
Oh yeah!
Oh yeah
Woo hoo!! Nintendo is awesome
Well when you go online on Mario Kart 7 it says: Connecting to Nintendo Network. So maybe that has something to do with it.
Replying to my own thing… the purpose has been revealed already xD
hopefully it will be better than psn, sounds cool
I feel like Nintendo isn’t the type of people who would just change the name of a service midway through a console’s current life span without adding any features or having some intention. If you think about it the Wii U really isn’t that far away, and I’m sure they are preparing for their “new” online service. I think there will be something new, but not to a huge extent. I may be wrong. We may see at the shareholder conference in a week or so.
