David Gibson, the Head of Software & Services for Macquarie Capital Securities Japan, has said it’s “unlikely” that Monster Hunter Tri G will be localized. This is based on the (supposed) lack of support for Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii. Now, he doesn’t work for Capcom, so he may not be privy to their plans, and various hints have suggested we will see the game in the west. But I’m amazed Capcom can’t just say “it’s happening” or “it’s not happening”. They’ve made us wait long enough.

  • Reggie Fils-Aime

I am afraid that this is true David. There is a very minute possibility that it will come to the west.

    • Big E

      ….

    • Swankenstein

Of all the western localisations of Monster Hunter games, Tri for Wii has sold the most. I personally won’t be buying it again just to have it on 3DS, but if 3DS were to receive a new entry to the franchise there’s no way I’d miss it

  • J Rye

You’re surprised that Capcom are not catering to their fans? You mean after permanently canning MML3, denying Mega Man in UMvC3, putting a derpy looking mega man in street fighter x tekken, and blaming mostly every mistake they’ve ever made on their fans? Baffling.

    • http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/16a07c1e06c4010a42f31cc4d1a0702d.png ABEzilla116

All you’re doing is complaining about mega man.

    • Captain Falcon

Welp, the Mega Man in SFxT is based off the original Megaman’s (NES) cover art.

      http://tomheroes.com/images/NES%20megaman%20box.JPG

    • Big E

@ABEzilla116 We should be expecting Megaman complaints in every single Capcom articles that is not related to Megaman. Bunch of complaints from babies. At least @Keith’s (Down below” is more “understandable”…I guess…Complainers gonna ‘plain.

    • http://mayker.tumblr.com Mayker

Ubisoft is still like 100 times worse.

    • J Rye

Woah. Woah. Woah. Let’s get one thing clear. I don’t give a flying f*** about Mega Man. Or Capcom at all, for that matter. However, I do spend a lot of time on video game forums and I’ve noticed that their true fans are pissed about this stuff. Capcom has repeatedly smacked their fans in the face and then laughed about it in interviews.

    • Lv.5 Jacob

Yup. They’ve really earned their nickname Crapcom recently, particularly on the Mega Man front but from what I understand they’re unspectacular in other areas too.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/darkgamer001 darkgamer001

It’s not just on the MML3 front where Crapcom suck. Off the top of my head:
      - Milking titles such as Resident Evil waaay too much
      - Trolling MH fans with localization issues
      - Going against most fans wishes in the Devil May Cry series
      - Releasing the same game for more than half a dozen times (Street Fighter IV)
      - You would think that releasing bad box art megaman instead of the normal version is extremely insensitive, or simply downright trolling on their part
      - Unreasonable DLC crap
      - Shutting down a fan’s youtube channel for showing how you can unlock a character without paying the unreasonable DLC charges
      - The way they allegedly treat their own employees like crap, with the last episode reported in Kotaku about how they almost drove one of the members on the Dragon’s Dogma team to suicide.

So yeah, it’s not just a “bunch of complaints from babies”. They’re very valid issues at the moment

    • Big E

-Have you played the new DMC? I thought not. Don’t judge before playing.
-How many Resident Evil games do we get a year on avverage? Maybe once? It just so happens we get 4 within a year and a half this time. This may never hhappen again.
-Boxart Megaman was for comedy. I found it to be hilarious.
-There are companies other than Capcom who put on-disk DLC on the games, yet Capcom takes most of the blame.
-Capcom has every right to not release MH Tri G internationally. Face the facts: Monster Hunter is not as popular as you think.
-Almost every game company treat their employees like crap.
-They also have every right to take down Youtube videos and channels if they feel the videos threaten their business.
-You don’t have to buy every single new version of Street Fighter.

    • AJX

Activision is 1000 time worse. Just look at what evil they did to Spyro just to make money.

Besides Ninty, Capcom makes the funniest games. Had been, and always will.

I just love those Phoenix Wright games. I don’t give a damn about these silly dragon hunting games, I only want Capcom to make a sequel of Ghost Trick for 3DS.

    • AceOfBlades247

“these silly dragon hunting games” That probaly pissed some people off. : /

    • Big E

I don’t want to hunt dragons. I want to befriend them……Then be their commander and have them devour…Devour everything….*Innocent face*

  • Cornh

It’s a very sad thing actually, specially since MHTri sold quite well for a Monster Hunter game in America, I think it’s the best selling MH game on the west, and I really like the franchise, so I hope this guy is wrong and we get the game, also, the 3ds library hasn’t skyrocketed yet, if there’s a good time to expose a franchise to a new potential market, it is this time.

    • Enzo

Let’s just hope that Monster Hunter 4 gets localized.

  • zero107

Man I hope Capcom make an annoucement of this game to the west on E3… I’m a big fan of the psp entries.

    • zero107

      *coming

  • GamingFan99

I agree; Capcom really just needs to say “yes it’s coming” or “not it’s not” at this point. It’s completely ridiculous how long this has gone on, with everyone voicing their opinons as facts.

-Capcom denies us Ace Attorney games
-Cans 2 or 3 big Megaman titles
-Release 2 billion version Street Fighter IV that nobody gives 2 ****s about
-Wants $1300 a LE of Resident Evil 6
-Wants money for a “true ending” (Asura’s Wrath)
-Locks content on a disc and demands money for it.

yet we’re still shocked at each stupid move Capcom makes? <_<

    • Big E

That $1300 Japan-only version of RE 6 comes with a high-quality leather jacket. High-quality leather jackets aren’t the cheapest in the world.

    • Keith

      “High quality” Yeah, no.

    • zero107

I hope they’ve learned what we want when they saw the low sales of Street Fighter x Tekken.

      Lol. That’s Crapcom for ya.

  • adrian12369

now THIS is a game i can complain over

  • Enzo

It irks me how much people hate Capcom. People are letting their emotions get the best of them and making unfair accusations. I’m not saying Capcom is the greatest, but I know for a fact it’s not as bad as 99% of this site makes it out to be. Capcom should say whether or not it will, but it’s possible that the reason they don’t is because they’re still on the fence. It’s a big thing for a company like Capcom to make a comment about something that isn’t definitive (or at least they believe it to be).

    • capcom

i don’t hate them, i just hate their decisions they been making, like blaming fans, on disk lock content etc, etc.

    • Belinni

More than likely Capcom doesn’t want to bring over Tri G because it lacks the KEY features Capcom knows most western gamers want, the odds of finding someone to play with locally for the MH games are pretty low unless you have friends who own both a 3DS and your taste for an addictive unfair game.

At first I wanted Monster Hunter Tri G really badly, I still do but I understand why Capcom would be reluctant to give that game to us. Gaming websites would just bash the game for lack of online and for being just an “enhanced port” of a wii game with a lot of promise and it would affect sales of the future Monster Hunter 4 negatively.

I’d prefer giving up on a “1.5″ type of sequel just to be given a true gaming experience like what Monster Hunter 4 is inevitably going to give us. Perhaps that’s why Capcom didn’t bring over the game, perhaps they wanted to really blow us away with a franchise that deserves more attention. If Tri G WAS shipped to the west and it received the same treatment the other portable Monster Hunter games got do you guys think we would EVER get to even see Monter Hunter 4′s american box art?

    • Garic

Whenever they cancel a game, or not localize one, They ALWAYS blame it on the fans. And they make too much DLC to milk the consumer… One of the worst gaming companies in my opinion.

    • Enzo

I only see capcom supposedly blaming the fans for MML3 and that one was through twitter, which we don’t know who manages that. It is likely that some people working for Capcom feel like the fans are to blame, but as a company they know not to blame the fans and they would not like to admit that there’s hostility towards their fans within the company itself. It’s not that capcom is particularly bad for this point, but that they make mistakes and for real Capcom needs to make money, free DLC takes time and effort. So I think everyone’s being overly critical about Capcom, they seem all right to me. They just aren’t too keen with customer service.

    • Garic

I agree with everything you said, But they really need to earn their fans back, Instead of looking like a buisness that will try to save every penny possible.

    • capcom

but they still made terrible business decision on how to handle raged out fans, sorry Enzo, what time and effort, “the capcom DLC” is stuff ripped from the game and sold back to you with a price, i know they are company, on a business standpoint, thats a profit, but as a gamer that a ripoff, for example, if grand theft auto was created by capcom, they would do something like, NEW DLC, radio station hip hop, 5 bucks. so overall, i agree with you, just not the dlc part, again i don’t hate capcom, just their decisions, lets just hope 2013, capcom will revert back to their oldselves^-^

  • Totheark

I already have Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii.
Why should I be interested in Tri G? What does it bring to the table?

    • Cornh

A fuckton of monsters, monster subspecies, four new weapon classes, a hell lot of weapons, six armor sets for each monster, another hunting area, another hunting companion, like a dozen new masks, that’s what I recall, but seriusly this one has a lot more content that Wii’s one.

    • jonehi

      Portability
      Better graphics
Dynamic shadows(not even the pc version has this)
      3d effect

  • Nothing

Eastern companies do not make games for western markets. They are games made by asians for asians. All games and devices are made with the asian market in mind and the western markets are an after thought.
This is why you see little localization in the European and American markets, the companies just don’t care.

    • critic

      Yes true.

Except that Xbox was created for the American market together with all the COD games.

Americans are contend just playing with COD games.

    • jonehi

(I’m american so I can say this)
AMERICARS ARE THE STUPIDIST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET

    • AceOfBlades247

      Americars? Lol.

    • ladydias

      @jonehi
You may be correct about Americans being the stupidest people on the planet but you can’t even spell “Americans” or “stupidest”, so what does that make you amongst other Americans? Most of us can spell. ;-)

Americans have the same problem as every other country, we can’t keep the most stupid and ignorant amongst us off of the TV and internet.

    • jonehi

@ladydias. Well it was ment as sarcasm eg: I am american I said americars.

    • AceOfBlades247

Wow, ladydias, Just wow. She Doesn’t understand it.

    • ladydias

Yes, a true pity that I didn’t understand his joke. We all know that statements posted on a text based forum do the absolute best job of conveying sarcasm.

      BTW that was sarcasm.

Anyways, I’ll give him the sarcasm bit but it was still poorly done.

  • CrimsonalCore

*Sigh* Well, at least I hope MH4 is coming to west.

But if Capcom ever decline localizing MH4 coming to west, this means facking war, you hear me, Capcom?

    • capcom

soon we will start to change people for online play^_-

    • Atomsk

Capcom already does charge in japan for all the console MH games… they just didn’t for Tri because it wouldn’t have sold as well otherwise…

    • capcom

wow charging for online play, this is not microsoft Xbox 360 damn it.yeah i went there, lol jk fan boys

    • sawada

Capcom sucks… and “Revelations” was good, but it isn’t espectacular, just a good game…
    >:c

    • Carlinhos

Well, i disagree a little bit. Revelations is an average game at most (IMO, of course). Worst RE ever.

  • Spi3000

Capcom has been backstabbing these days, in more than one way. And as much I would love to see this game get localized, I just wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t. But lately Capcom doesn’t seem to care for their consumers except for the consumer’s money. They’ve even recently stated that they want to shorten their production time from 4 years into 2 in a half, all for just profit reasons. I think as of this point if people want Capcom to get something right, make a scene and a large one. If thousands of people were able to scream and shout at Cartoon Network and Adult Swim to bring back Toonami, then why can’t people do the same for Monster Hunter Tri G, or heck any Monster Hunter game? Find a way to get Capcom’s full attention and make them give a straight answer and none of this “Bright light at the end of the tunnel” business. Because everyone knows that light at the end of the tunnel is always from a speeding freight train.

Of coarse please note if someone does do something, make sure it’s legal. I hate to hear that some terrorist group is holding Capcom under hostage all for a game, I won’t go that far.

  • Kevin Jo

I rather just get MH4 anyway.

  • adrian12369

they should put it up on the eShop. it’ll be a lot cheaper for capcom that way.

  • wut

Tri actually did quite well in the US, even rivaling Super Smash Bros. Brawl in how much time was spent with online play. Brawl being one of the most played games online for the Wii, so yeah, no small feat. While yes, Capcom should just come out and say it already, I’d say there’s some chance of it coming stateside.

As for the rest of the entries here, a dealbreaker tends to be no online play. The US tends to lean to that not unlike how Japan leans towards local. That may still be added if it’s released here, but regardless, take Gibson’s words with a grain of salt.

  • sawada

damn.. I have waiting for monster hunter tri localized for psp like forever.. then I hope to Monster Hunter Tri G will be localized.. and again my hope didn’t come true..
I guess I will download the rom for psp, and wait somebody will patch monster hunter tri G..

    • sawada

also Dragon Dogma better be good.. if not, then this is a goodbye, Capcom..

    • Carlinhos

Capcom franchises that i enjoy the most are being so neglected…

-The last good megaman game was ZX advent, eons ago.
      -Resident evil changed from an awesome puzzle/horror game to a shallow “breeze through the corridors shooting zombies” game;
-Monster hunter… it seldom shows its face in the west. And capcom won’t give us a straight answer about localization of tri G.

Capcom deserves the hate it’s receiving. The company is pushing fans patience to the limit.

    • FoliagedPegasus

monster hunter tri was for the wii and was localized. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd was for the psp and was not localized.

    • sawada

      FoliagedPegasus

yeah right.. I mean Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is still not localized..
I consider buying a Wii, but the price here in my country is equivalent to 432 USD.. even more expensive that PS3..

    • MetroidFTW

Jeez! where do you live?! you can get em for like 70 British pounds here (pound sign button doesnt work)!!

  • thatguywhogames1

What Capcom should do is release it out here in the U.S and if it sells well, localize Monster Hunter 4 when it comes out. Either way, I really want Monster Hunter on my 3DS

  • The GG

Whats the point of hope for capcom to localize this game anyways? They are just gonna give you the middle finger.

  • FoliagedPegasus

the something happened with monster hunter portable 3rd. they said that it was likely to be localized in the west but that never happened. i hope this one is localized but if its not then i will just hate capcom some more.

    • jonehi

      Deal

  • Tails the Foxhound

I was never holding the greatest amount of hope for Tri G, but I’m pretty sure they’d have just told us no if there were no plans wouldn’t they? I will pitch a fit if 4 doesn’t come over though.

As far as Capcom themselves, I’ve chosen to judge them on a game by game basis. Fighters? If it’s a SF 4 or a Marvel, i don’t care, SFxT is junk too. Shooters? RE is case by case, Lost Planets are a rent. Megamen are buys, DMCs (except DMCreboot) are buys, Viewtifuls are a buy. Originals are a buy.

  • Jesus

That’s just like with MHP3rd. It’s over a year out now in japan and capcom didn’t talk about a localization in EU/US. Capcom really sucks with those things, I hope they’ll get their butt kicked by Nintendo

  • critic

Hey guys, I got a solution:

Instead of waiting for the games to be localised, which is like forever, why don’t you learn how to read Japanese?

    • AceOfBlades247

I already started to learn Japanese!!! :D Pocket Monsters FTW!!! :3

    • ladydias

      @critic
I’m sure they’ll be happy to learn Japanese….just as soon as you fork over the money for them to buy a Japanese 3DS so they can try your suggestion. Y’know, with region locking and all of that.

    • AceOfBlades247

I got the money for that.

    • ladydias

Good for you. But not workable for the rest of us who have other things to do with our cash besides splurge on an entire game system that not only costs more to import but to buy it for just one game.

  • screw you capcom and your horrible ways. i hope you all contract disentry fir the rest of your lives

Fuck you capcom. Bastards. Etc… How about Monster Hunter 4 then?

    • AceOfBlades247

      Nice Name! :D

  • MetroidFTW

I think Monster Hunter 4 is most likely to be localized, you could say thats because nobody has said it isnt, but hey. plus Ive lost hope for tri g, if it comes out Great! but if not then I can move on, if Im honest though Id rather play a new game than an upgraded one…

    • AceOfBlades247

Wait… If some gets Localized and others don’t, Wouldn’t that mess up the story line and make less people in the west buy it?

Why does Capcom keep doing this what are they gaining for not releasing the game in the West

    • Big E

      What could they be losing?

    • Carlinhos

^Monster hunter has gained more popularity in the west with every new game released here. I myself got into the series when i bought tri for the wii. Capcom is just stupid not to invest in this franchise’s potential.

    • http://www.twitch.tv/destructoid/b/313606778 mah boi

      ^Exactly

Big E, The better question is, what could they be gaining?

If we don’t get this then I hope we’ll at least get Monster Hunter 4. The main series is usually localized.

    • Big E

If Capcom releases this game and doesn’t sell as well as fans hope, the company loses money. Money is the big issue here. It costs to localize. But I know MH 4 is releasing everywhere (Whenever it does). Considering it’s a 3DS exclusive, MH 4 could be what popularizes the series in the West. I think why the series’ titles don’t sell as well here than Japan is the fact that most of the games were released on the PSP (Which wasn’t very popular in the West. More than 3X units were sold in Japan than America). Just my thoughts anyway.

We should stop bashing Capcom. They have supported the 3DS the most (At least quality-wize), with two RE games and two Monster Hunter games that propelled the 3DS to where it is now. Besides shafting Mega Man and Inafune, Capcom’s doing good.

    • AceOfBlades247

It’s amazing how a flat-out lie like that can be believed. The Wii audience “not supporting” Monster Hunter? Sorry Gibson, but if you can’t see where the Monster Hunter audience is, then you’re fired.
