I think it’s safe to say that, out of the recent Nintendo 3DS Software Lineup Trailer, Ridge Racer was one of the ugliest looking games on the platform. Which is unfortunate, because I’m a keen racing fan. Luckily, Konami seem to be coming to the rescue with Asphalt 3D, a racing game we know nothing about (even it’s name is still a working title) aside from that it looks fair slick. You can check out 3 screenshots after the break.

**Correction**: Game Loft are the developers behind this game, but Konami are publishing it in Japan.

    lmao im loving it

    Indeed..
    Much better than Ridge Racer(Ugly)…

    1. I would actually say Ridge Racer 3DS is on par with Grand Turismo PSP. I’m guessing a low quality 3DS game in terms of visuals will equal a higher-end PSP game such as GT . Much like comparing Xbox to Dream Cast.

And I think better graphics than Iphone in this one

Ridge Racer looked so bad that the 6 year old ridge racer that launched with the original DS (and wasn’t even made or published by Namco) looks about as good. It worries me that even devs as prominent as Namco Bandai have decided to continue treating Nintendo platforms like garbage. See the multi-game trailer? Notice how crap Sengoku Basra or whatever looked sandwiched between MGS and professor Layton. Jeeze, even animal crossing looked graphically awesome compared to these two games. That Chocobo game too. It’s funny, it’s all the same Nintendo ignorant Japanese teams all over again: Namco, Square and Koei. At least Tecmo’s made a turn around, but then getting a lucrative Metroid deal should do that. Perhaps some interoffice shaming will give the folks at Koei a kick in the pants.

“Asphalt 3D, a racing game we know nothing about”

What?? There a two versions of Asphalt GT for DS and also many other versions for mobile phones, so I would say we know a lot about it. Will be quite a cool racer I´d say, more action than simulation, power boosts, crashes and so on…

    1. David Turnbull

Guess I should’ve clarified, we know nothing about it in the context of the 3DS. :-)

    2. Dan

I loved the DSiWare versions! Best 800 points I’ve ever spent on a game :D
