Kid Icarus: Uprising comes bundled with a stand for the 3DS in Japan

Masahiro Sakurai has tweeted that Kid Icarus: Uprising will be bundled with a stand for the 3DS. The stand is used to keep the screen steady and make it easier to use the touch screen. It was also revealed that the game will be bundled with six augmented reality cards. There is no word yet on whether other regions will have the same bundle. You can check after the break for some pictures of the stand in action.

      I hope you guys do know that its packaged with the game I.e. its free. So stop saying its not worth it. It’s just Nintendo trying to please those 3DS owners who complained about hand cramps while playing FPS games on the DS. Which is bogus cuz my hand never once cramped up while playing Dementium. Although I can see how some people might have a problem with holding it. Also it may be good for other things like watching Netflix or making videos. Ok that’s my rant.

      The circle pad pro won’t work like you think it does. Rather than give you two circle pads for control, it’s going to be used for lefties (right hand for movement, left hand on the touch screen). The developers felt that this method is easier than the traditional two stick controls.

      It’s just a piece of plastic, not high technology. You will still be able to put your 3ds even with the circle pad onto it. And if it doesn’t fit, you can build your own stand. Really, look at it.

    The stand is an alright idea… if it’s free then sounds good to me.

      I use 3D when I can, but If I’m in a tense moment where I just can’t keep it still, I’ll turn it off. I also turn it off on games that don’t need it, like VVVVVV or Mario Kart 7. This stand would make playing in 3D much easier.

    btw this is a really good idea. i remember watching many reviews for the 3ds when it first came out and their main complaint was that it was hard to keep the 3ds steady for the 3d to take effect. PROBLEM SOLVED NINTENDO!!!

    It doesn’t look useful at all (For me).
    MPH was perfectly playable on the DS with your left hand as support. I’m sure 99% of all people would agree.

      Well I used my pinky on my left hand to press Y and jump, so that rattled the screen a bit, but I guess the general public is very challenged and can’t hold a console steady.

    Everyone is thinking of using the stand to record videos than to play the game and I agree. Great stand for making videos.
    Stand so awkward when you’d play elsewhere than home.

      This would indeed be great for the Let’s Players & Reviewers community. It would make filming so much easier.
      I don’t make Let’s Plays or review myself but I watch a lot of people who do and most of them don’t like doing 3DS games because they have a hard time filming it.

      Yes, I know that. I was just making a joke about how the Virtual Boy and the 3DS are similar systems, in that they both have 3D and now a stand. I don’t actually think that this is going to turn the 3DS into a Virtual Boy. (Especially since you actually need the stand to play the VB. In this case, you don’t.)

      That’s what we’ve been saying for the past few weeks. If it weren’t for the confirmation of the demo, I’d say it wasn’t coming. If it is coming to NA at all, it’ll be right before the game actually comes out.

      Why not just get the circle pad pro? Sure it makes your 3DS bulkier, but it’ll make games like Kid Icarus Uprising, CoD, and other shooter games actually comfortable to play on the system…

      there’s gonna be no point of using this with circle pad pro, this was made cuz some people experienced sore hands while playing kid icarus, so they made this to stop those sores, and if you have a circle pas pro than you’re not gonna use the touch screen and experience sores anyways,

    not to be rude, but thats pretty useless. the only good it can serve is for netflix. but still, i can watch netflix on the computer or tv screen. if the game will have any action like playing metroid prime hunters when playing online, the last thing you want is a kick stand. plus who plays games on a table? i use a couch for everything. im just saying is all.

      I’ve always seen this problem with the AR cards on the 3DS itself. If they ever want to release new ones, there would be no way for stores to just give them away, but at least one person who buys them would scan them and upload them to the internet. But if they only release them on the internet, then people without printers would be left out.

    How does this defeat the point of having a portable console? When you put the 3DS in the stand, it’s still a self-contained gaming unit in contrast to plugged-in consoles.

    this is only to solve the problem of hand cramps, its not necessary, but is free so i dont see whats the problem.
    this game plays just like metroid for the ds or like any fps in the same console, which means if you already played any of this games, then you probably already realized that the stand is not necessary to enjoy the full experience kid icarus uprising offers. there are many times when i will tolerate complaints, but not this time

      Yeah it is quite the milestone especially for a console in its first year. Nintendo originally expected to sell 16 million 3DS units between launch and March 2012, I think they will exceed that.

    Some people still don’t get it, if you want to play the game, you DON’T have to use this, but playing it gets really uncomfortable after a few hours. Where are you when you are able to play for a few hours straight? (hint: not outside because 3DS’ battery isn’t so good) Yes, somewhere where you can charge your 3DS and that’s probably your home. There’s no need to take this anywhere else.
