Honey Queen and Wiggler confirmed as new playable characters in Mario Kart 7

As confirmed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, Honey Queen (who appeared in both of the Super Mario Galaxy titles) and Wiggler will be playable in Mario Kart 7. There are screenshots after the break.

From most of what I’ve seen they only use characters from the main series or characters created from sports spin-offs.

I know I won’t use Queen Bee much but the fact that they finally added a Heavy female character is nice to me.

I do remember Rosalina, she’s the only female character I use, but she just doesn’t FEEL heavy to me. Perhaps her bikes/carts were heavy but I never really saw the difference.

I just wanted a roster with some characters that would make the game cooler. After carefully studying the pics, they’re sorta growing on me…..but I still wish we could’ve had different people. They seem out of place? Idk.

Well, Funky Kong had his own battle stadium available at the start and that was before people knew he was a playable character.

No one wants Waluigi to be excluded, so its still a possibility because of that stage.

You know, now that I think about it, these choices aren’t that bad. I miss Waluigi, but I’d rather these guys than any of the other characters that got cut.

Petey Pirhana, Boo, Dry Bowser, Dry Bones, Baby characters, Diddey Kong, Funky Kong and especially ROB, I will definitely not miss. Any other character, I’ve forgotten with good reason.

Go on google and type “the worst character in the mario franchise” and see who pops up. He is the worst for many reasons. First off, the only reason why he was introduced in the first place was basically because they wanted a partner for wario which isnt bad.

So we see this guy waluigi come in dance dance revolution: mario mix which he plays as the major antagonist. Right off the bat we know this guy is going to be the joke of the mario franchise. He also makes apperances in mario party 4, mario power tennis etc and he is annoying as hell. Waluigi swim blah blah hes just bad everything about him, chracter design everything. I hope he never gets his own game. Hes just a joke thats it.

Do you think there’ll be more characters? After all, these are just “Newcomers”, does not state anywhere that these are the final roster. We thought there were only two more because of the blank spaces on the japanese website, but I doubt they’d let waluigi or dry bones go, let alone the impressive newer characters such as boo or diddy kong (maybe even bowser jr).

It may be introducing an old character, but I’m still debating if Nintendo has actually decided to make R.O.B. a Mario character. Its reasonable because he showed up in MK DS and is the “technically” only non-Mario (and playable) character in a Mario game, unless I missed something (excluding cameos). It’d be cool to see as an enemy or some kind of helper in a new game.

There also seems to be a picture of a Honey Queen Bee Track from SMG or something if you click the second from the left black thing (i have no idea what it says) and then scroll down.
I also think they will add three more characters to make it twenty. That would be five rows of four or four rows of five on the touch screen because with Honey Queen and Wiggler added there are seventeen characters if you count Mii.
Lastly, maybe Nintendo forgot characters on Someone said it but yeah I’m hoping for DLC….

I love most nintendo games and they’re basically the only games I play.I really don’t understand why everyone is so worked up about the addition of these two characters.

I mean, it’s not that they’re anything special other than mere trinkets we use to race in a kart.

Personally, I was really hoping for special items like in Double Dash. Besides their weight, the characters actually had meaning due to their different specials in that game. Each subsequent game after Double Dash no longer incorporated this interesting game mechanic.

What’s the point of including 40+ characters in this game if they can all use each other’s car(in the same weight tier) and are capable of exactly the same thing? The only obvious distinguishing factor is their individual voices. Would somebody care to elaborate?

Actually, I liked it better when they just didn’t have all these ridiculous characters. I liked it better when it was just 8 main characters because they had more meaning when you saw them on the track as rivals rather than just random, obscure racers. I want to race against the likes of Yoshi or Peach, not some common enemy that should be an obstacle on the course.

And yes, I’ve always preferred Wario over Koopa.

I don’t have any objection to Wiggler being a playable character, but why on earth would they choose the Honey Queen? Sure, she’s in both SMG’s, but she is a pretty minor character in both. They should’ve chose someone like Professor E. Gadd or Lubba in place of her.

Hey David why haven’t you talked about the new map in Animal Crossing 3DS? You probably think it’s not a very important but for an Animal Crossing fan to see those BIG changes is AWESOME and shows SO MUCH about the game!! It is a really big thing for people who have played all the AC games to see how this new one will have elements of all the earlier games.

@Youngster Joey I agree with you. I think the Nintendo should have put Toadette or Birdo, personally I will and always prefer Toadette over any other character. Plus Toadette has never been on a mario kart handheld from what I know.

That’s super EPIC this game got a lot better. Wiggler is awesome and fits right into the game and Queen Bee is just bad ass. Idk why everyone is mad about all this content in one game. In these days of dlc be glade you don’t have to pay extra for this. Spoiled brats.

I kinda like that they added the Honey Queen because it gives some underdeveloped characters more depth and importance, although it’s probably more to balance out the female to male ratio. I would also like to see E. Gadd here!

Uuhm Guys, you all know these are not all the characters ;) As Nintendo Power stated in their article that there are plenty more hidden characters but they will show a few of them now, and those are Metal Mario, Lakitu, Shy Guy, Honey Queen Wiggle and your Mii… So expect more of them :D!

That’s kinda ridiculous think half of those could make it into Mario Kart, but I sympathize with you. The only suggestions I believe have absolutely no chance are any DK character that isn’t a kong (no Tikis or Kremlings), Goombella/Doopliss/Cackletta/Broque Monsier because of single appearances and they’re kind-of a “long-shot”, and sadly Geno/Mallow too because of rights to the characters.

It would make other characters redundant (i.e. metal/galaxy/shadow mario, Mr. L) but then we could have colors of other costumes as well! I don’t want to play green yoshi anymore and fire mario would fit the fire flower power-up in this game! A red and blue dry bones (like in paper mario TTYD) would be cool too.

I don’t see why people are complaining, I love the fact that Nintendo is bringing in different, yet widely known characters to the series. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if they added Kid/Baby Bowser ( No, not Bowser Jr., I mean the one that was in the Mario Party games.).
