
The above photo was taken at a HMV retail location. It features a poster to promote the 3DS XL. The only problem is, the poster itself uses a fan-made mock-up which suggests the 3DS XL has a second circle pad. Obviously, there are some people that might have been misled by this, so a spokesperson has responded to the situation, explaining that:
It’s apparent this was just one particular store being a little over-enthusiastic – and the poster has been removed. If it’s caused anyone any issues then we’re sorry, but I’d say it doesn’t take much to work out this doesn’t represent the company’s retail offer for this release.
The last half of that statement feels callous. If you’re reading this blog, I doubt you’d fall for the mistaken advertising, but not everyone reads blogs about Nintendo. That’s not to say HMV is some evil corporation for making a mistake. A more neutral apology would have been more appropriate though.
