Cave Story 3D to feature new items, hidden characters and expanded stages

Jack Niida, the producer of Cave Story 3D has shared that the game will feature new items, along with hidden characters from other NIS America creations. Familiar stages of the original game have been expanded with new areas to explore and the original game won’t be included in Cave Story 3D because there isn’t enough space on the 3DS card.     i just downloaded the original pc version and it totally kicks ass! so i am hyped for the 3ds version!

      That’s a stupid reason to not be interested. That’s like saying you’re not interested in Ocarina 3D because you haven’t played the original Ocarina. This game isn’t a sequel, it’s a remake with new expanded stuff. And if you want to play the original first, you can download the PC version for free.

      It’s the same thing. It doesn’t matter if you played the DSiware version. It’s an amazing game and this is a great opportunity to be introduced into it.

      this is the most idiot statement i’ve ever heard, I didn’t play the original either but I’m kinda interested in this game, and because I didn’t play it it’s going to make the game better, please man, don’t say stupid things like that. In my opinion the main objective of remakes is for people hadn’t opportunity to play the original one to try this one.

      I played the WiiWare port of the game, and it was amazing. I had preordered this game since April 16th, and I can’t wait to play it.

      Although I’m somewhat disappointed that they can’t include the original game on the 3DS card. This just yells at Nintendo to release the larger game cards.

      Mhmm.. I wasn’t that excited too. But I played the Wii version (from WiiWare) and I LOVED IT!. I recommend this game a lot. I’m going to play it right now.

      @Riku Actually i bought ocarina of time because i never played it and it was said to be the most popular 3ds game. i got the second last one at my gamestop :P. im sorry but im just not interested. i mean im not saying its bad, but i just dont want it at the moment.

    It’s not included because it’s available in the eShop already! BUY BOTH =P I’ve played the free Linux version and I’ve bought the Wii version… I don’t know if I’ll get this one or not……..

    This will be my 1st time playing this and I can’t wait.

    But isn’t Euroasia getting this game in September, while we Americans have to wait till November. And when do the people in Asia get this game.

    Either way this is sounding more & more like my kind of game everyday.

    Now why couldn’t they have said this at the first reveal of new footage instead of waiting this long? This could have stopped a lot of detractors. Now I must own it. ^_^

    Not that the missing original is a problem or anything, but COME ON NINTENDO! Your card is capable of 8 GB. Stop giving us the 2 GB cap treatment (with the exception of MGS3 which has 4 GB).

      I agree however I heard that the 4 gigabyte card might poke out of the 3ds a bit. I can only imagine how long a 8 giga might be XD.
      Does anyone else find it sort of cool that Nintendo could just upgrade the cards at any time and say “What ps2 graphics?”

      But this is the order of quality graphics with NO UPGRADE:

      PS3 > 3DS > Wii > GameCube > PS2 > PSP

      Because Nintendo later on decided to use a different companies processor instead; which is a million times faster then what Nintendo was originally using in the E3 2010.

      Therefore has way more better graphics with NO UPGRADES & still has 60 fps after you turn the 3D on (unlike the E3 2010 samples).

    Bull that it can’t fit on the card. Everyone knows damn well that the original game ain’t there because it sells in the eShop for 10 bucks. Why give something away when you can make a little off it.

    i got the dsiware cave story like a month ago and it was lame. i gave it like a 1 or 2 rating in the eshop. i rather play the game boy metroid then that game.

      well its always true. if you want to see some 100% positive stuff from me, wait until theres a metroid game on the 3ds. besides fusion becuz thats nothing new. i even still have the game boy advance metroid games in my cabinet thing. i want to play it but the dsi and the 3ds doesnt… well, i was going to say another thing negative, but you know what i was going to say is true.

    i finished the original at 100% on the PC, i finished the hard mode on the wiiware version. i dont think a few new items are worth a re-re-release for the 3ds…

    the original cant be include just for the space on the 3DS card… but MGS3D is going to use a 4GB card why not do the same?

      Because the higher-memory cards cost more to produce. Konami’s got a bit of money they can burn because of the success of it’s games; NIS is taking a bit of a gamble on this one. Plus Metal Gear Solid is a fantastic and well-received series, thus warrants more money being spent on development and distribution.

      Besides which, including the original on the cartridge would conflict with sales of the original Cave Story via the WiiWare and DSiWare versions. And seeing as those sales go to Nicalis and Daisuke Amaya anyway, I feel no shame in spending $10 for the original. That guy deserves every penny.

      I would love to see, however, a feature that would grant extra items/health/areas/achivements/characters/whatever if you have a copy of the original on your 3DS system already.

    The reason the original is not included is because they SELL it on the e-shop. They don’t want to cannibalize sales for the original.. Not enough space… pfffft.. what a lame excuse.. for a $40 price tag it absolutely should come with the original.. even if it did take away a few sales on the e-shop..

    I just hope they don’t screw up this music like they did for the WiiWare release.
