Castlevania: Mirror of Fate coming to the 3DS?

A Dutch site is reporting that Castlevania: Mirror of Fate is coming to the 3DS. The game is apparently being worked on by the producer and director of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and will be shown at E3. Konami has grabbed domain name of “castlevania-mirroroffate.net”, giving weight to the rumor. We’ll have to wait until E3, but this sounds pretty spot on. What do you think?

      Me, too! I had EVERY single DS Caslevania. Never finished though because they’re HARD AS HELL.

    i was at first like “OMG YES” then i saw that the producer of LoS might be working on it
    louder sigh has not been heard in quite a while

    i want real castlavania, 1 action-platformer rpg for sure
    understandably they can’t just use sprites from the older ones, but still

    It is about goddamn time. The 3Ds needs a Castlevania game. I just hope its more like classic castlevania.

      Just because 3D exists in this day and age doesn’t mean there’s no place for 2D anymore. That’s such a new-age video game player thing to say.
      I certainly hope you don’t consider yourself a Castlevania fan or even a gamer after that statement.

      I personally think Castlevania in 2D is far better than 3D, therefor I agree with Captain Falcon. All of their 3D titles are pretty mediocre.

      @Guy Its not about nostalgia, not one bit. “Think of all the possibilities” We already know the possibilities. They’ve already tried a 3D Castlevania and it was “okay”. Not stellar, and no where near as good as the rest. Why is it that 2D game play is always called “nostalgic”. Really annoying…

      All 3D Castlevania games have pretty much been poop. It is far better as a 2D game, which is why they still made them 2D on the DS. So it ISN’T nostalgia if they still have made games in the recent years in 2D.

      God that maze with the chainsaw guy/dogs scared the hell out of me when I was little.

      That game was incredibly easy though, especially if you play as the girl. Her moves seek everything.
      I guess that was their attempt at getting girls to play video games back in that day; Make the female incredibly OP.

    I don’t have a problem with LoS like most Castlevania fans seem to, but I’m not pleased with this all the same. I want a 2D-vania for the 3DS (Classic or Metroid, I don’t care). Meh, preferences, should be good either way.

    PLEASE make it 2D with impressive 3D scenery and models. A mature cell-shaded approach would be nice, but no manga! I want the old Gothic look.

    Most importantly, let me play as a man with melee weapons and preferably some whips among them. Without that, it’s not Castlevania to me.

    I’m wondering whether this will be an old-school sprite looking game like the DS ones or like LoS on the PS3, XBOX. Personally, I loved all the original Castlevania’s and looking forward to this one. I also think it would be cool to have 3D models but sidescrolling gameplay. Anyone agree?

    I really hope it’s set in the original universe. I simply dislike the reboot.
