Kingdom Hearts 3D features a “Memoir” menu, which Square Enix has revealed to include:

  • A tutorial for learning the game’s moves.
  • General help with the game.
  • Recollections, which allows you to look back at things that have happened during the game.
  • Chronicle, to read a detailed history of all the previous games in the series.

It was also announced that there will be a pre-launch event for the game on the 3rd of March, so we should see more of the game then. There are screenshots of the Memoir menu after the break.

    Different, but cool!

Perfect feature for newcomers to the series such as me :D

That can’t be a “special launch event” – game doesn’t come out ’til March 29. Wouldn’t make any sense.

The chronological part of the Memoir section should be helpful for those who just pick up the game without knowing that there’s a complicated and rich storyline behind it.

Updated the post. Should have said pre-launch event. :)

I recommend you get the special anniversary box if you have a japanese 3DS, it includes three awesome games and some cool extras.

Chronicle… That’s wonderful… I’ve played essentially all the games (re:coded or whatever it’s called excluded), and I still get so confused. ^_^

    • Xarreno

Thank Goodness they came out with a chronicle. I may have played all of the games, but there’s always at least 5 places that cause confusion. I think I understand almost all of it though.

This is a good thing too, considering how many people here who comment about not playing the series (or one or so titles) at all. Plus, it’s also cool to read how they describe they story (along with character descriptions).

    • Boo

Oooh, I’m really glad they added the Chronicles feature since I haven’t played any of the previous Kingdom Hearts games either.

    …….*tear**tear*

poor ven, aqua, and terra and the sad things they went through…and roxas

    I LOVE KINGDOM HEARTS

I like how one the most common comments about buying this game is that people haven’t played the series before and don’t get the story.

And now they’re giving a solution for the issue, It’s good to know they think about these things.

Ah, the Chronicle will definitely come in handy, as the Sysnopsis is handy in Tales of the Abyss.

  • J

Very handy and helpful since I only played KH1 and KH2. Can’t wait for KH3.
    :D

I wondered if they’d do something like the Chronicle after playing FFXIII-2 which had a “what happened in the first game” section on the main menu.

Good to see Square being aware of this sort of thing and leaving summaries for people who couldn’t play all the other games!

    Love Kingdom Hearts.

    • Belinni

Perhaps they finally realized that the series is old enough and has appeared in so many consoles without any remakes to warrant a little synopsis.

Also, to make some people feel old, some of the newest fans are around 10 years old. Guess how old the first game is?

  • KeybladeWielder_

Super keen! I think its brilliant cos even after playing nearly all the games I find some parts confusing… I didn’t get re:coded cos I blew all my cash on a 3DS just for this game! But I did watch the important ending on youtube haha =D
Kingdom Hearts will live forever in our hearts =) <3

Chronicle should be handy, theres a lot of KH lore I need to catch up with.
