The demo for Kingdom Hearts 3D is available via the eShop at the moment in North America, but if you can’t download it yourself, check after the break a complete video walkthrough.

  • su

LOL. How the hell video is 16 min long.
The demo didn’t last not even 10 min for me. xD

    • su

      the video is*

    • Brian

      *is this video

    • Isn’t Grammar Fun

      *didn’t even last

    • AceOfBlades247

I beated the demo in 2 minutes.

1 min. and 30 sec. for boss
      20 seconds for loading screen
10 seconds to fly all the way to the boss.

    • Fr0sty

I don’t know about you, but i spent like 20 minutes just exploring traverse town and trying out attacks. lol

    • http://gravatar.com/jacknzack27 JacknZack

I spent about 20 minutes too

  • ZEROWING

    Played the demo.

Graphics look real pretty…clean textures nice smooth 3d models… I’ll give it that but the controls are absolute shit.

Once again the enemy collision with your attacks… makes the game feel like a cheap MMO.

Awful backwards controls.. attacking with the “A” button instead of “X”… the awkward way of selecting magic…

Not to mention the camera has a hard problem with keeping up with the player so while your spinning around and dashing, its incredibly difficult to aim at the direction you want to go. This game incredibly begs for the circle pad pro.

I don’t even need to play the game to tell you the story will be about as confusing as understanding the plot-holes in inception.

The game will be great presentation-wise but the game will play like crap and confuse story followers even more then before.

    • su

The story is confusing if you haven’t played any of the other games at all.
Plus it’s not like any other game is going to be released right now, so you have plenty of time to do some fucking research that’s what most people do when they don’t understand something.

    • the psvita is better

well it supports the circle pad pro
and i dont think you are giving the controls the credit they deserve, its not as bad as you make it seem
and also i doubt you can judge the story from the demo considering the demo only gives you one cutscene and there is also a feature that lets you see kingdom hearts whole story
i dont know, i think you are complaining too much and you only played the demo

    • Razeron

It is compatible with Circle Pad Pro. (supposedly)
So all that stuff about controls doesnt mean anything since the controls would be the same. And if the story is confusing then you need to think more. Kingdom Hearts is not a little kids game with its story. The story is complex and hard to understand if you haven’t played the previous game.

    • Speed

I mastered the controls in no time and the camera looked alright to me. I also know the story very well.
Oh well, maybe that’s just me…

    • TheRolesWePlay

I take it you haven’t played a KH game before, much less BBS or Re:Coded have you?

The story has been building up to this point and is meant to bridge the gaps between several games that didn’t have Sora, as well as set-up the next game. (Also I heard the essential plot for the game and it isn’t all that confusing until the end…like most KH games)

As for controls it controls very similarly to any other KH game, only with Flowmotion controls (WHICH ARE AWESOME BTW), so for people who are familiar with the series won’t find them to difficult. (Heck they aren’t difficult to grasp in the first place)

    • Brian

Of course, when someone makes any time of criticism of the game, butt hurt faggots like ‘su’ get all emotional and defensive.

    • su

      @Brian

I’m no kid like you, nor I would get emotional for a piece of cheap entertainment it is clear he didnt spend a little time to talk about the pros and cons the demo has, I personally think this game is nothing more than a reason to expand the series a little further in.
Try to get ahold of yourself and learn when to talk ot not, I’m no stupid like some other I know my stuff

    • Green Reuben

Am I the only one who didn’t find inception confusing?

    • Speed

@Green Reuben You’re not alone. I don’t get what people find so confusing about it. The only thing I ever wondered is if he was still dreaming in the end (very unclear).

    • It’s an iTouch, not a uTouch

      @Speed

What the creators of Inception want you to realize is that Cobb does not pay attention to the top; he focuses on his kids. At this point, he does not care if it is real or not, and that is what the directors of Inception are trying to convey. In other words, whether it is reality or not, Cobb is content.

    • Rander12

Here’s an example of a confusing detail:

Sora is 16 by this game; however his appearance is seemingly that of his 14-yo self for almost all of the game. Is this a byproduct of being in the Realm of Sleep, or is it just the designers way of saying “Sora will be more appealing this way!”?

    • http://anthony-lomeli.co.cc Lomeli12

“Awful backwards controls.. attacking with the “A” button instead of “X”… ”
You’re crazy. If the “A” button is a perfect spot for the attack button. X would be alot worse.

    • ZEROWING

Yep, here comes the KH defense.

Say what you want, played KH 1 and 2 on ps2, friend tried to get me into it, the series’ story-line is confusing as hell. Beat 1, couldn’t bothered to beat 2.

Don’t care if u played all the games in the series. Most fans can’t even explain it, and this is notorious…

Doesn’t help that Sora is a very unlikable character.

Game has shit controls and shit enemy collision; keep defending it all you want. Not going to change my mind.

      @ SU

I explained myself pretty well about the pros and cons about the demo, seems you were too butt-hurt to read my comment properly.

      Pros:
Graphics (i did say smooth models and clean textures)
      Presentation

      Cons:
      Bad controls
      Camera can’t keep up
      shitty enemy collision
hell the dashing is broken too, you can make Sora fly in this demo.

      Yep. Gave clear criticism here.

    • Rander12

      Chill people.

@ZEROWING is just giving his opinion on games that WILL receive criticism just like any other game. He/She (just in case) feels that all those cons fault the game. He may be right, though that’s just how he played the game and saw what was wrong. Somebody else will say that they played the game without a problem with the camera, button controls, etc. If you don’t like the camera setup, if you are planning on buying the Circle Pad Pro (extra camera control), then use it.

Again, can someone explain the reason behind Sora’s awkward “age regression”?

    • Rander12

      @ZEROWING

If you want, here is a brief summary of the KH storyline.

      Kingdom Hearts
Sora, Riku, and Kairi are whisked away from their world by darkness. Sora discovers he can wield the Keyblade and must fight the Heartless and seal each world away from darkness. He is joined by Donald and Goofy who were told by King Mickey to find and help Sora while also searching for Mickey. Riku is baited by Maleficent and Ansem into giving in to the darkness. Kairi loses her heart, but chooses Sora to be its vessel until it is able to return.

After visiting many worlds, Sora finds Kairi and finds that Riku is possessed by Ansem. Defeating him, Sora releases Kairi’s heart – and fades away. It is here that his Nobody, Roxas is born. Kairi, Donald, and Goofy flee from Ansem and find Sora’s Heartless; subsequently Kairi is able to restore Sora to human form. Sora, Donald, and Goofy go to stop Ansem from taking over Kingdom Hearts and succeed. Sora, Riku, and King Mickey are able to seal the door to Kingdom Hearts with Riku and Mickey leaving themselves inside the Realm of Darkness. Sora reunites with Kairi, but must stay while Kairi returns to the now-restored Destiny Islands.

    • Rander12

      Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories

While searching for Riku and Mickey, Sora is led by a person in a black coat to Castle Oblivion. Upon stepping inside, the trio loses all of their abilities and must conquer the castle using cards and must travel through previous worlds carved from their memories. Along the way, Sora clashes with members of Organization XIII, whose purpose is not revealed. Reaching the top, Sora finds Namine, a girl of unknown origin, who had replaced Sora’s memories. After defeating Marluxia, the mastermind behind the events of Castle Oblivion, Sora decides to “go to sleep” in order for Namine to restore his memories.

Meanwhile, Riku and Mickey end up in Castle Oblivion’s basement and faces against other members of Organization XIII. During this “quest”, Riku meets DiZ, a mysterious being who leads him along the castle. Reaching “B1″ Riku faces Ansem once more and defeats him in battle, conquering his inner darkness. Leaving the castle Riku and Mickey reach a crossroad where DiZ asks wether to choose “the path to light or the path to darkness”. Riku chooses to walk “the path of twilight”.

    • ricky56

the story gets progressively worse with each new release so as long as you have played the first game and get the gist of that, then you know the least corniest, least unnecessarily perplex part of the story which summarizes the whole series.

    • antiform47

lol i find the only people who dont like kingdom hearts are the ones who cant understand it or cant beat it. :p thats just from my expierience though

    • DKoji

@Rander12 actually riku says he chooses the middle road and when Diz asks if he is choosing the twilight road to nightfall Riku corrects him saying he’s taking the road to dawn or something like that but other than that I think you got everything quite well without being too specific

    • Rander12

      @DKoji

Thanks for the correction. I haven’t played Chains of Memories for many years, so I’m just basing my memory off of what I significantly remember. Albeit a small detail, that correction was quite needed. Again, I thank you for that.

  • BluePikmin11

I would play KH: DDD on that :D

  • Brian

    *Is this video.

  • ectoBiologist

The picture is wrong so maybe you should fix it. There’s no Riku in the demo (Which also means no drop bar).

  • 009soulmaster

Im only preordering this game solely because it has the The World Ends With You Cast in it. god i love that game

    • Big E

…………..They’re only in there for 1/35 of the game.

  • AceOfBlades247

I really wish they had putted Riku inside the demo.

    • It’s an iTouch, not a uTouch

Agreed. I like the spirit dream eaters you get though; Meow Wow is awesome.

  • Herp The Derp

This demo looks amazing. I already know I’m going to be playing this for a long time. Personally, the guy went by a little too fast. The point of the demo is to see the gameplay and how you use the character and etc.

That’s how I was able to put 10 hours into the MGS:SE3D demo even when I could finish it in less then 2 minutes.

For those about the control, it looks like the one from Kingdom Hearts Recoded which is easy to control. You have to be extreamly clumsy to not understand how the controls are.

For the last time people who are confused with the story, it comes with a summary of all the games! Jesus, and if you didn’t know that, then you can easily read the story on the Wikia (Not wiki, there’s a difference). I swear, people these days complain about almost everything. The story is not hard to follow, I’ve been able to understand it since I was 4 all the way to now. If a 4 year old can understand the games, and you can’t, you need to get yourself check.

Other then that, Looking forward to the game!

    • Atomsk

      You Sir, Are a Gentleman

  • PurpleStain

I don’t understand all this shit where people bitch about the story. Play Kingdom Hearts 1, then play Kingdom Hearts 2. You’ll get the general gist. That’s heaps fucking hard, isn’t it?

All of the handheld games are cool if you want to get deep into the story, but they aren’t SUPER EXTREMELY FULLY necessary for you to get into in order to understand what you’re playing.

And if you still somehow have trouble, just fucking read the plot of the games you missed online somewhere. >_>

That’s just my opinion on it. I for one know the story quite well, as I’ve kept up with all the games, but yeah.

    • Khfan360

I agree I mean the plot ain’t that hard to understand I haven’t even played the games in order I haven’t even played the whole kingdom hearts 1 game but I still understand the plot if you just pay attention to the story line o.0

  • Cal

I have to say it’s flipping awesome to have a demo a full MONTH before the game comes out. I’ve been drooling over this game ever since it’s been announced and now I get a taste of it in my hands! I litterally just sat at the title screen for 5 minutes listening to the newest rendition of Dearly Beloved. (Which is playing as I type this up!) I’m glad to have a bit of KH on my newest system, and it looks absolutely GORGEOUS… When I saw the intro with Neku in full 3D glory, actually on my 3DS … my jaw litterally dropped. I’m extatic to have a piece of TWEWY in the KH world! That game was the BEST on the DS no doubt, and this will be the BEST on the 3DS. The flowmotion controls make this game a bit too fast, because it’s so easy to skip things and get one place to another, but maybe that’s just how they wanted it so you never feel like you’re taking too long to travel… Man, Sora’s not a “Player” in the Reaper’s Game?! I’m drooling over this possible crossover, I hope it lasts more than just traverse town. But I think that it might just be the whole of traverse town being based off TWEWY’s story, kind’ve interesting to delve into another Square Enix story! We get bits and pieces of it with the Final Fantasy characters, but now this is kickass.

  • DekuJohnny

Only problem I have with the demo is, it’s a month until the proper game comes out. But from 5/10 mins of gameplay I know now for a fact it is the best game on 3DS.

  • Rander12

Okay… I’m tired of typing, so here’s a VERY brief plot of the other games.

    KH 358/32 Days
Follows Roxas during his time in Organization XIII.

    KH II
Sora and co. battle against the rest of Organization XIII in order to protect Kingdom Hearts.

    KH coded / Re:coded
A mysterious message in Jiminy Cricket’s journal leads to a journey through the Data world of the same journal. The player controls a Data Sora.

    KH BBS
This title preludes the events of the previous titles and how Sora connects to other characters in the series.

    KH 3D
Sora and Riku take the Mark of Mastery exam in order to combat the return of Xehanort, the true antagonist of the series.

    • Rander12

      Sorry… typo…

      It’s actually 358/2 Days – pronounced “Three-hundred, Fifty-Six Days Over Two”

    • Khfan360

I know because I played all those games and beat them several times it isn’t confusing it just the plot of the games takes place very quickly :)

  • Rander12

For more info, please refer to the Kingdom Hearts Wikia or just go to Wikipedia and do some research.

The plot really isn’t that confusing compared to titles with MULTIPLE ENDINGS…

    • Khfan360

      that true I agree :)

  • Khfan360

Why didn’t they put my favorite character riku but still I like the demo :)

  • Paul

If you have nothing good to say please, buy another game and rant on that, because you don’t even deserve an explanation of the Kingdom Hearts storyline, otherwise someone else would have explained it to you already.

    • Khfan360

Dude chill :) it’s just a game plus I wasn’t complaining I was explaining so that a deep breath and relax :)

    • Khfan360

Besides I know the WHOLE kingdom hearts plot line by heart I’ve played everyone of those in critical mode on every system so don’t go around acting like your some kind of God at kingdom hearts so why don’t you rant on that for a change.

  • Chris

I just tried this demo in Australia for the second time. I had never once switched power saving mode off and didn’t realise how amazing the graphics really are on this little device! Kingdom Hearts seems to be doing almost as much justice as Kid Icarus: Uprising did for the system. I love the gameplay so far I just can’t wait to see what kind of battle system this becomes as the wall jumping is simply too much fun! I was so giddy watching Sora rocket through the map, I laughed the whole time. Well done Square Enix. I’m so glad you produced a handheld Kingdom Hearts that has made me as excited as Chain of Memories did all that time ago!

  • Mr.Poop

MAYBE DEMO FOR EU PPL TOO ????

  • wtfmate

Canceled my preorder, after 5 seconds of playing the demo my head got stuck on a lamp post. If the actual game is as buggy as this demo, I’m not wasting my time or money. Besides that it’s just not for me, I’m not digging the whole metrosexual/homo eroctic/hipster vibe. Other than that the game play was kinda cool, I like how you can fly around all DBZ style.

  • mustbepbs

For those who haven’t downloaded it yet: Don’t.

I just saved you 10 minutes of your life and your nostalgia for KH1.

    • wtfmate

      agreed
