Nintendo confirmed that you cannot buy the augmented reality cards for use with Kid Icarus: Uprising. They have to be received in magazines or collected at events. With that in mind though, they’ve shared that you’ll be able to get a few cards from the following places:

  • By buying the game at the Nintendo World store in New York City on the 23rd of March.
  • At a special event in select GameStop locations on the 14th of April.
  • The April issue of Nintendo Power and the @Gamer in-store Best Buy magazine.
  • The Nintendo booth in WonderCon taking place in Anaheim, California.
  • The Nintendo booth at PAX East in Boston

Nintendo of Europe also revealed you’ll be able to order two packs of six augmented reality cards each from Club Nintendo for a total of 250 Stars. There’s also a new video showing off the control methods in the game that you can check out after the break.

  • Roxic

    Coolio :)

  • AAI

You can’t get the Club Nintendo ones in North America? Aw…

    • Pulp Hero

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the cards turn up as part of the North American Club Nintendo offerings. Since Nintendo isn’t planning on selling the cards, at this time, Club Nintendo seems the only regular venue for random packs.

    • EpicLight*

You can… I don’t know why David isn’t blogging about it, but you can get them for free for a limited time if you order them now before they run out.

    • EpicLight*

^ scratch that. But I hope you can pick up your free cards on time!

  • Gunner

As I thought, there is an option for controls.

    • EpicLight*

There aren’t any possibilites for control options. Using the stylus, you’re able to activate a bunch of skills and perform moves with a single touch. People say the stylus control is too complicated, but I say, buttons are too simple :P

  • Andrew

Or the inevitable “Print them from the internet.”

    • meme’s of the internet

i do think it is gonna be better to have the originals though

    • http://en.gravatar.com/ GameManiac

I’ll give myself a month or two before I begin to use eBay to buy these cards.

  • Shayse

People will probably just print them from the internet.

    • koops3

You could but… they won’t sell well on eBay.

  • Shayse

They have a lot of videos like this on the kid icarus page on nintendo!

  • kidbuu42

are they out of stock now in NA?

    • miiworld2

      -_-’

is the in store Best Buy mag free?

    • Ty

Nope. You have to either buy it (which really isn’t worth it) or pay like $15 to become a member of Bestbuy’s rewards program. You get a one year subscription in addition to special offers and extra trade in credit- basically like power up rewards at Gamestop.

  • Acephoenix

WAIT!… did you just say we can order them from club nintendo for 250 stars?… STARS….hmm… something seems wrong here…

    • Sebasbrawler

Well Europe uses Star points after all.

    • Bewoulf2000

Well thats the club nintendo currency in europe, we got coins here in good old North America.

    • Acephoenix

Ooooh. I read it more closely now. When I posted that, I was about to head out the door to go running, so I didn’t see that. I am now +1 smarter. :D

  • Omni

The Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK will also be giving out some exclusive Kid Icarus AR Cards.

  • ChaosInvoker

I got a card from my GameInformer magazine. Just thought I’d help expand your list David.

  • Sebasbrawler

I will totally get those 2 packs with 6 argumented reality cards for only 250 stars! i love artwork!

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/DodsonReview?feature=mhee Nintendega/DodsonReview

is the Best Buy magazine free?

    • patrick

The best buy mag is not free and it doesn’t actually come out until April 3rd just checked today.

  • Chief R. K.

I just hope history won’t repeat itself.

(**cough, cough** Super Mario Advance 4)

    • RIVER

What do you mean by that?

    • Chief R. K.

SMA4 was an add on to the GBA port of SMB 3. the idea was based upon scanning ereader cards to unlock levels and power ups. the only issue was Nintendo got a little over 36 cards in and stopped (naturally with the exception of Japan). this would’ve been ok for the most part (since the rest of the world drooling for Japanese content is common place) but poor planning on Nintendo’s part added a lot of content natively to the game that was suppose to be unlocked by scanning a certain number of level cards that just happened to be more then the number of levels Nintendo ended up printing in card form. so officially the game is unfinished by Nintendo to this day.

in short, I just hope that Nintendo takes this idea and runs with it but doesn’t fall short like they did with SMA4.

  • RIVER

    Did anyone watch the video?

Theres the possibility on being able to customize yours controls and you guys are talking about AR cards?

    yeesh

  • test26
  • Samrat

If you do the welcome survey, you get 250 stars, so really it is free.

  • gannon

I’m not even gonna lie, for a video game character, the goddess is pretty hot.

  • http://thegreatestwebsiteinhistory.wordpress.com/ Forgael

Yikes, those are some scary-exclusive events. I hope we can simply scan some cards from our computer screens and smartphones.

  • Rc/AGES/brawlman20000

  • EpicLight*

I ordered the free cards on Club Nintendo today! They should be coming in the mail in a couple weeks :D

  • Peter

David, you can still acquire paks from “local retailers”, they’re just not sold that’s all.

    • Pulp Hero

Could you clarify that Peter? Are there retailers giving out randomly sorted packs of AR Idol cards? And if so which stores?

    • Peter

It’s on the official website, see for yourself.

    • Pulp Hero

Do you mean the section about
Local Retailers/Gatherings about checking with local retailers to find Nintendo Representatives giving away AR Idol packs?

I guess we’ll see how that turns out, hopefully it’s not limited to big city locations.

  • tob2007

So, we get different controls? Does this mean there’s another way to control the reticle?

  • http://www.bitebrain.com pololmejor

I can easely say that Kid Icarus: Uprising is the game that pretends to be the most elaborated of any consola in YEARS! But we’ll have to wait so we can confirm it’s not just a disguise.

    • KingofIkana

No matter what you use to polish turd you still get crap on your hands. = this game.

  • You Foirgot one Dave

I received a free promotional AR Card for the game in my GameInformer that came in the mail yesterday.

  • Dudeicus

Cool! I just snagged one in the new issue of Game Informer, and I will be at PAX in a few weeks! Sweetness!

  • KingofIkana

If these cards came laminated and weren’t on such cheap card with such cheap artwork [white background? wtf?] then I might have been interested.

    • miiworld2

      Lol. Spoiled much, buddy?

  • Jodel

Europe gets the better offer. :/

  • ultrakirby64
