This is actually a pretty awesome thing they’re reintroducing. FE4 had a system where you’re two paired units would have a playable child in the second generation – the child had a mixture of the stats and skills of both parents.

While heteronormativity is not a good thing, Fire Emblem is not trying to promote only opposite sex relationships. If marriage in-game raised your units stats or something along those lines, then same-sex marriage should be included. But its only purpose is to have children (which I think is a little stupid as a feature, but that’s beside the point.)

That’s completely illogical. It’s asinine to defy genetics just to satisfy one’s personal social movement. Just because a game features a marriage system doesn’t mean it’s got to support all forms of marriage–especially when the game’s not trying to make a statement, but simply trying to utilize a gimmick. This feature is added in the game merely as a new form of character customization, a way to mix two different characters into a new character. It’s not meant to speak against or neglect the case of homosexual couples–the game’s just using the simple fact that babies are produced by heterosexual coupling. I just don’t get what all the complaining is about here.

there’s a difference between a phobia and disliking. i wish people would stop dishing that out. When you call someone homophobic, it doesn’t mean they hate or are against gays. The word “phobia” means to have a fear or be uncomfortable with something around you. if someone was claustrophobic (afraid of tight spaces) what would you call him? a wall hater? would you tell him to stop being mean to walls? same goes with arachniphobia(fear of spiders etc.) or any other word that ends with phobia or whatever. if someone is literally homophobic they would feel uncomfortable, or fear gays and would want to leave.
