3DS sales figures in Japan updated to 214,821 units sold during the week of the price drop

The last notch you see in the above graph represents the sales of the 3DS during the week between August 8th and August 14th. Previously we’d heard 207,000 units had been sold during this time, but now we have the more specific figure of 214,821. Keep in mind the price drop only kicked into effect on August 11th, so most of these sales would have happened within about four days.

    PS3 dropped down price to $250. Same price as a Vita? Does that mean Sony is gonna make the Vita $200? Wii-U around $300?

      Not sure about the Wii U price, but as for the Vita, it’s not getting a price drop. They’re already gonna sell it at a loss.

      Does sony want the vita to fail? It’s not going to get the holiday boost, it’s going to be competing against other sony products that are cheaper. (PS3 at the same price and the $99 psp ($150cheaper)) plus it’s going to be competing with the Wii U, so it’s not going to have next years holiday boost as well, there is also the inevitable iphone 5 that could have graphics similar to the vita, so there is another “hit” toward sony. Sony can’t afford a price drop either, since they are already selling at a loss. Although the 3DS had some really gloomy days, i think it’s going to pull through in the end :P

      Im giving the WiiU price 250-300 if it wants a good launch. I mean people will say “Ohh i bought a ps3 for 250 why would i pay so and so price for a wiiu?! I mean its a wii from nintendo it cant be good right?” Just like people bashing 3ds cause its nintendo..

      And yeah idk, people will buy the vita. I was having a hard time choosing between Wiiu or vita..

      Dont give sony the benefits of the doubt.

      @splinkz= i would advise the Wii U if it isn’t over 350. It’s a new console, other than a haneheld that is trying to be a console.

      @Santiago The PSP is only $99 now? Really?! I had been hoping to get one, though I thought they were $130?

      It’s stupid for Sony to put the PS3 down to the same price as the Vita. I am going to get a PS3 someday, and now I’m definitely getting one before a Vita, since I’d rather spend $250 on a console than on a handheld that I’d also be competing with the 3DS by buying.

      I seriously feel for the people who are getting a $100 PSP. I’ve never liked Sony, and moves like this just bring me closer to hating them… Don’t get me wrong, I like their systems and the games released to their systems, but Sony as a company just seems more cold and heartless each year…

    i wonder what the next graph will have. it should be interesting. but even so, the earths population isnt getting any smaller. in the future someone can probably sell millions of $1 coffee cups that saids, “im with stupid.” it doesnt mean its any good, the population 10 years from now for example will be huge.

      I’d like to see an international graph, now that would certainly call my attention. Not that 214,821 units sold in less than a week hasn’t I’d just like to compare Japan to America/Australia/Europe/Etc.

      On a side note I would totally buy that coffee cup. It’s a stale joke but whatever.
